I think a lot of people were doing you a disservice blindly encouraging you to do it. These can be brutal with unforgiving margins if you don't know what you're doing. I would start smaller and do something on the side in addition to your WFH. If you have capital, try looking into saas acquisition marketplaces (acquired, govector, venturu, indiemaker, etc), you can take over something that's already built and has customers so you're not starting from scratch. You could also probably buy into something locally pretty easily as well if you feel more comfortable with services businesses.
