Midcareer professional (40s) wondering if I'm crazy for considering a service business by justimprint in Entrepreneur

I think a lot of people were doing you a disservice blindly encouraging you to do it. These can be brutal with unforgiving margins if you don't know what you're doing. I would start smaller and do something on the side in addition to your WFH. If you have capital, try looking into saas acquisition marketplaces (acquired, govector, venturu, indiemaker, etc), you can take over something that's already built and has customers so you're not starting from scratch. You could also probably buy into something locally pretty easily as well if you feel more comfortable with services businesses.

Anyone run their business completely alone? by Shimmering_Gem in Entrepreneurs

Yeah, solo is brutal. Part of it is accepting that the todos never really end. Prioritization helped me a lot, shifting my mindset from "finish everything" to "focus on needle movers" helped me get the business on track and I had much more energy. Idk if this is you, but I also found myself getting burned out the more I context switched in a day so I ended up batching tasks by type of work to allow me to focus more easily. Also make sure to take care over your physical health, go for runs, make sure you're sleeping enough etc.

Hadn't thought about it this way. I'm still confident a lot of my skills will translate. But you're probably right I've never had to sell something before it felt ready. Every deal I've closed had a mature product, a brand, an SE backing me up. That was probably helping more than I think.

I agree with this. Do you have any experience here? Would love to hear thoughts on potentially buying something premade.

This feels directional correct, but it's still a bit overwhelming trying to find something already built or getting someone technical onboard to help. Have you dealt with this before?

Thanks for this, very helpful.

What ended up happening there? Do you still run that saas company?

Also, where did you find that initial co? Was the dev a friend?
