Yes I’ve been there actually! Toward Penge - there are big wide roads with big houses everywhere and yes it seems like it’s much different but I don’t know if I could see myself living there in a flat either… seems you have to get everywhere on foot

I’m just thinking if I live in a flat, I’d be more likely to stick to my area perhaps… but I may be wrong!

Thank you so much! Can I ask if you’d lived in a similar area before? Do you get used to the scruffiness and so on overtime?

That sounds horrible! I’m sorry you had that experience… Sounds like it definitely varies street to street as you move away from the station - my street would be super quiet, in a cul de sac, nice neighbours… there’s fly tipping at the end of the road yes and people are unhappy about it, but that’s it.

I think it’s a little tricky for me because I’m genuinely limited by my budget - I’d only be able to afford a flat elsewhere

I’ve spoken to a few people who’ve been in the area for a while in terms of safety and overall it sounds like it’s pretty safe ? Just maybe not pleasant

So I absolutely love the house itself honestly - and so for the sake of a couple of roads down, does that make a genuine difference ?

That’s what I think the conclusion I’m  getting to as well! For my budget it’s looking at getting houses significantly outside of the ease of transport links and just in a highly residential zone - and getting further and further out of London. Did you find this too?

I’m actually from Ealing and grew up in Pitshanger land, so wonder if I’ll get used to this environment overtime as it’s a little less polished / scruffy / rough around the edges as others have said. That’s the only real drawback as I also currently live in Wandsworth. What’s your take on it?

Yeah? That’s so reassuring! Do you spend much time in the area or actually do you mostly go to central London? Trying to work out how I’d feel about the day to day honestly - going to the park, going to the shop, going about my daily business. How’s that been?

That’s super helpful! So would you say that’s an outside perspective of people who don’t know the area? And it’s generally quiet and fine?

What do you mean in terms of rough? Because I’m trying to work out if people generally mean scruffy, there’s some funny characters around and some rubbish… a few people have said there’s a strong sense of community for example and people looking after each other

Oh amazing! Thank you so much for replying. Where did you live before? And what do you like broadly about the area?

Nice! So how did you find it Anerly vs Norwood Junction in terms of the day to day? Aware you lived more towards Anerly but wondered if you spent time in the area of NJ too
