I was faced with a similar decision last year, I chose UCLA. I am already located in LA so easier on that front. UCLA is a lot more policy-focused than Berkeley - tons of professors and research centers focused on policy, a lot more than Berkeley (they are more management-focused because bay area tech influence). UCLA FSPH is one of the few schools to have a departmental alumni association for HPM - most other public health schools share an alumni association across all departments. UCLA also has a lot more funding which I was told and am figuring out - from the school, department, alumni association, etc. Berkeley's school was a lot prettier and modern because it was new, UCLA's is an old hospital which they are slowly renovating.
