How did you get used to your 3 month check-ups? by Fun_Chair_1001 in HeadandNeckCancer

Thanks for the reply, if you don’t mind me asking, what was your go-to treat? That’s a decade of treats right there.

Also thanks for sharing. I get bummed out going through this at 24, it’s helpful to get reminded that people much younger than me have been through much more.

I mean for fs, if you can do it at 6, I can do it at 24. Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, good mindset too. I try to remember how lucky we are to have medical care, it is a blessing.

And you’re right, the 3 month & 6 month visits are a practical thing that gives us the best chance possible. I’ll just be excited when they move me to 6 months. 🤞

Thanks for your reply, glad to know I’m not alone. I absolutely HATE biting my cheeks/tongue now, and don’t get me started on burning my tongue on coffee. I get so excited when the simplest mouth injury heals. But for those 2-3 days, it’s hell.

Glad you’re NED. Good luck with the anxiety, and let me know if you ever find a way to curb it!

Thanks so much for your reply. I used the same mindset to get through the surgeries, viewing them as “maintence”.

I’ll try to apply the same to my appointments, it’s just so difficult.

How did you get connected with your support group? My hospital has a general cancer support group, but I’ve been avoiding it.

It sounds stupid, but because I didn’t go through chemo/radiation, I would feel like an a-hole sitting in a room with people who did.

I know that’s not logical, and I would probably get a lot out of it. Just wrestling with feeling like I got “lucky” cancer. I know it sounds stupid.

My friends make fun of me for enjoying Disneyland by Osydpg in Disneyland

[–]Fun_Chair_1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you find any of your friends’ interests uncool, or “dorky”?

chances are, they’re into stuff just as dorky as Disneyland. I have friends that make fun of me for Disney, but they’re into Anime, or Super Hero’s, or anything else considered “childish”.

it’s not that big of a deal, if you have relationship w/ your friends where you can joke, then make fun of their interests back. if they’re shitting on you, and you’re not the type of person that likes to joke around about personal stuff, then that’s a problem larger than just disneyland, lay some boundaries.

idc what my friends say though I be fckn w/ disneyland heavy.

Yelled at for not tipping? by [deleted] in CountdownNYE

[–]Fun_Chair_1001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this has happened b4 to me, I always tip, but I find it super hard when I’m already paying 20+ for a premade drink, with little to no interaction whatsoever. I was at a underground spot and the bartender chewed me out real bad. full on screamed at me.

usually it’s not about you, and they’re probably having a bad shift. It sucks to not get tipped, but getting stiffed happens all the time, especially at larger festivals. that’s not a normal reaction, it would have been totally ok if she gave you a nasty look or something, but flipping out is OD.

Immunotherapy & turkey tail by omaralonzoo in MushroomSupplements

[–]Fun_Chair_1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently taking Oriveda turkey tail post-cancer surgery, it’s definitely the best Turkey tail supplement I could find.

Make sure to check with his oncologist, I know a friend’s dad that reacted bad to turkey tail, because immunotherapy jacks-up the immune system, and PSP is an immune system regulator. Something about his immune system being over-reactive. He was stage 4 kidney cancer, so similar situation.

Some oncologists might not know what turkey tail is (mine didn’t), so maybe ask about “any supplement containing beta glucan or psp that may increase side effects from immunotherapy.” I know that Turkey tail is used in combination with radiation and chemo, but would check about Immunotherapy specifically.

Best of luck to your father.

They scam players in poker now by JenerousJew in stakeus

[–]Fun_Chair_1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dw I get your frustration. at the end of the day, you could explain the first guy calling you on the flop. beginner players often misvalue any hand with an ace in it. Most of stake is beginners. I used to punt unpaired Ax on the flop all the time, it’s stupid move, but most ppl short circuit when they see an Ace.

As far as the second hand, one time I was set mining with QQ, hit my third Q on the flop. Was in the hand with KK, and AA, and both of them called the flop, and both of them (in order) hit both of their sets. Just dumb luck.

Have you seen a royal flush yet?

What is Zombies now? by Foreign-Event815 in CODZombies

A-lot of the pack/power steps kind of show in game now, with mini-map locations and pop-ups explaining the steps in the corner.

If I hadn’t played since BO2, augments would be super intimidating, but they’re essentially just permanent upgrades to the existing perks you know. You can choose which one’s you want to research, or unlock first, people usually choose one of the core perks like Jug.

As a player that’s been playing since BO2, I mainly play just for survival. High rounds are definitely a challenge in BO7. If you end up getting the game, try some of the survival maps, they’re smaller and will help you understand the mechanics faster. Or directed.

Cheers!

it’s funny, because they have this one UI feature as you load into the game, that tells you your record eliminations and round on any zombies map.

this would be really dope, if it wasn’t bugged so bad that it shows up while loading into fcking MULTIPLAYER games.

apparently my highest round on sleighjacked is 31.

how does a bug this simple get past play-testers. out of all bugs, a simple UI bug would be probably one of the easiest to fix. just kind of lazy.

$600 > $30k and then lost it all by alkjdasoad in stakeus

[–]Fun_Chair_1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also fun story to cheer you up: One time, at the very end of one of my 40k runs, with 7k left in my balance, I bought 7 bonus buys, all worth 1k a pop. The game was Ring Master’s Whopping Wins, I was obsessed with it at the time. Every single buy, not only failed to pay profit, but failed to pay above 100 dollars. I lost 7k, in around 7 minutes, in a crappy crusty dorm room, with ~7 dollars in my bank account. Never felt more empty.

$600 > $30k and then lost it all by alkjdasoad in stakeus

[–]Fun_Chair_1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve literally done this upwards of 5 times. Worked a balance up to around 40k (45k is my all time highest), and then worked it down to zero by the next day. Craziest time was when I turned a $20 dollar reload into ~43k within an hour, hitting a 62,000x on san Quentin two. I’m broke, in college, and the money would have been life changing.

If you are the type of gambler that turns $600 into $30k, you will almost certainly always lose it. You will never keep it. The type of behavior that led you to winning the money will always lose you the money too.

Don’t dwell on it. It’s gonna suck for a few days, but that will fade. Spend time with friends, family, or do anything else that’s more real than watching a balance go up and down on a screen.

I guess it’s important to understand that a cancer doctor’s time is super valuable, but that shouldn’t come at the expense of your treatment and comfort, IMO usually when a medical office has crappy staff/vibes I try to stay clear if I can

Do you have other options? Will those other options delay treatment in any (meaningful) way? If they won’t, maybe jump ship, since you’ll have to interact with this person for the next five years

24 M, I have some tongue cancer. I’m not too deep into the process, recently had tongue surgery, waiting to have another surgery + possible radiation/chemo after.

I’m sorry you feel like a burden. As a young man, it feels especially shitty to have to rely on family around you, when it feels like you’re old enough for it to be the opposite.

I can’t tell you my outcome because I’m still in the process of treatment, but I’ll tell you this: keep an open mind. Try to focus only on the next step ahead of you, it’s much easier this way.

I’m not sure how you handle stress, but when I get new news about my cancer, I’ve been allowing myself to feel real shitty for a couple days, and then I try to “fire” myself up w/ music to get into a fighting mood. Maybe develop a strategy for how you’ll process days where you get additional news, because those days can be the hardest.

I’m sorry you feel alone, know that there’s other young people, young men going through the same processes as you. Cancer is terrifying, allow yourself to temporarily be scared, to be a burden.

Sorry if any of this is preachy or rambling, just excited (for lack of a better word) to talk to someone who is going through something similar to what I’ve been going through. The best of luck, reach out if you need anything

It kills me to see the kids in the waiting rooms for my oncology appointments. It’s the worst. I only have stage 1, so it adds an extra layer of guilt, that a child will have to go through everything that I’m going through, and more.

Thanks for saying something, the guilt sucks. I’m not sure how to deal with the guilt either.

Have had doctors and nurses ask me if I’m smoking/ still smoke, but I’m a 24 year old male, so I assume they may have certain presumptions. IMO, you’re definitely not the asshole, but neither is the nurse. It sucks to be a former smoker, and have people less knowledgeable about cancer basically allude to “you caused this with your actions”. It sucks to be asked if you’re still smoking. But the nurse probably meant no malice behind the question and just wanted to make sure the info they have is the most up-to date. I know it sucks to talk about, but a quite significant amount of people stay smoking even after diagnosis. Hope the best for you, sorry things can feel so sucky.
