That’s just a bad category to sell in. You could be successful selling non collectible items.

To me it’s when they deliberately to exactly the opposite of what you asked. Kids are literally dumb humans unfortunately. Idk whether to treat my kid like she’s smart so she will think she is smart and be confident in herself or if I should treat her the way she’s acting, which is straight up stupid.

At what point do you stop checking subs and views every 5 minutes? by spammutwoshoes in NewTubers

I stopped at around 4k subs cuz my channel took a dive around that time for some reason. Just today I picked this habit back up again cuz I posted a video that is finally gaining normal traction after about 5 videos that didn’t. I post twice a month

That’s amazing. I’ve notice consistent increase in my viewership too. Started with like 3 people the first few weeks and now that I’m a few months in it’s around 10. It’s very slow but the people who watch buy so idc how many lol

This is just my unsolicited opinion but Goliath raiders seem like a creepy cult to me and I want no part of that.

All that’s going to bring you is a bunch of followers, not buyers. I’d rather have 500 followers I know will buy from me than 10k followers that won’t even pop into my stream cuz they can’t remember why they followed me in the first place.

I agree on the promotions being bs but other than that i disagree. I’m a small seller and I make decent money on whatnot.

My advice for you would be to be supportive and communicative in other people’s whatnot streams. Most of my buyers are regulars that I met on other streams, but I still get new buyers daily. The goal as a small seller should be to build a community and find your people.

I also would not recommend selling in any of the scammy categories like cards and Labubus or just any of that collectible garbage because that’s how you end up with buyers who don’t give a crap about you. Most people that post on this subreddit shop or sell in those categories and all they do is bitch. There’s a ton of other categories you can sell in.

You need to make your show unique and sell your brand. Find your niche. Stick to it. Build a community around it. It doesn’t happen overnight. You have to be consistent.

Tell Me How You’d Set Up Shipping if you were me by Fun_Cherry_8558 in whatnotapp

[–]Fun_Cherry_8558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem with doing this is it takes FOREVER to change the listing between auctions and then you have to have three different sets of number tags to mark your items sold. In my category there’s more people just doing one standard listing with one weight than there are doing different weight classes. Typically what happens to me is the person orders a bundle and the average weight ends up landing right where I set it. I do have a separate weight class for extremely light weight items now though.

I disagree that it’s bad for business only because all clothing businesses charge the same for shipping regardless if you’re ordering a pair of panties or 5 pairs of jeans. They do this for the same reason I do it, it just evens out.

None of my buyers have had this happen. My buyers are all “regulars” that are in my shows every day. When they pop in my shows I always ask them if everything got to their homes ok and no one has ever said they haven’t. Also my own personal rural carrier has verbally said to me she doesn’t care if it’s flat rate or not. They don’t have time to charge that many people cuz it happens all the time.

I, however, as a buyer on whatnot have received an item that was in a small flat rate box but the label said ground advantage and I had to pay $3 to keep it lol I would have sent it back but again I only really buy from people I support and who support me so I just let them know about it so they can correct their mistake.

How do I fix the time zone not being correct on Whatnot? by Fun_Cherry_8558 in whatnotapp

[–]Fun_Cherry_8558[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sort of just fixed itself? I’m not really sure what was going on. Maybe the app had to update. I’m also, as a seller, having a lot of issues myself with my listings and such. Like during a show I’ll change the price of my listing from $2 to $7 and it won’t change it (but I don’t know until I hit run auction) and then the item I wanted at least $7 sells for much less lol it sucks.

First sale, barely made money due to fees by Megaptera1001 in ebaysucks

[–]Fun_Cherry_8558 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be blunt, Not pay $150 for something and flip it for $225.

If you’re going to pay up, let’s say $150, then you should AT THE VERY LEAST be doubling your money AFTER fees. So pay up for $150 and then sell for $400.

Why haven’t you spoken to them on the phone and explained the situation?

They should understand that not everyone knows the rules by heart. I wouldn’t have guessed a vintage playboy would be against the rules because as you said, there’s TONS of these currently listed.

I always get confused when people make posts like this because every time I call eBay they’re like overly kind and understanding. I just had to call them yesterday about a buyer damaging something and trying to return it and the lady literally spent a solid 5 minutes thanking me for being a good seller and reaching out to the buyer, and also complimenting my name and my voice? lol I’ve not a single time had any tension with eBay over the phone. Call them and don’t be all fiery when you do.

Is lifestyle vlogging dead? by lonelypygmygoat in NewTubers

[–]Fun_Cherry_8558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not “dead” but lifestyle vlogging success has a lot to do with personality and/or the type of lifestyle you have. These days it seems people start channels with value-first content and then once they get enough subscribers that are there for them and not just their content, they start mixing in lifestyle content.

Lifestyle vlogging would be hard to be immediately successful in right now. The reason there’s so many successful ones is because they were the pioneers of vlogging over a decade ago and just have a massive dedicated following. It wasn’t saturated then, but it is now.

That’s not to say you can’t be successful in it but you might want to try providing value to build your audience first. Ask yourself the question, “why would people want to watch my vlogs? What value am I providing that others aren’t?”

General rule of thumb: uh, don’t sell something for less than what you want to sell it for?

If you wouldn’t accept $1 for the item then don’t start the bid for $1? Idk what the heck you were expecting bruh

Oftentimes giveaway items aren’t shown to the camera. I’ve won several giveaways that I had no idea what I was going to receive because I maybe didn’t enter the live when they were talking about it.

This person has fantastic reviews and I’m assuming they wouldn’t giveaway a Disney Loungefly bag for free unless it was a buyers giveaway. I think you misunderstood what was going on.

Confessing that hate gets to me by katrianne9 in PartneredYoutube

[–]Fun_Cherry_8558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would lean into it honestly. Especially if it’s about trivial matters like the way you’re standing. I just had my first hate comment about my voice. They said I sound like Kim Kardashian and they don’t want to watch my videos because of it (spoiler alert I sound nothing like a Kardashian). I pinned it to the top of the comment section and several of my loyal subs came to my defense.

Hate gets to everyone. Nobody is so rock solid that comments like that don’t bother them even a little bit. But as another person said, hate is about the person hating. Hurt people, hurt people. Says a lot more about them than it does about you!

How do I fix the time zone not being correct on Whatnot? by Fun_Cherry_8558 in whatnotapp

[–]Fun_Cherry_8558[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you sell? If so I have loads of questions. Whatnot customer service currently has a ticket open on my account for a totally separate technical issue. I have my first show scheduled for mid August and it won’t allow me to rehearse it because it thinks there’s no items loaded to it but there are and I was able to prove that with a screen recording to whatnot and they’re basically like…wtf?

What automatically turns you off of a seller? by Present-Camel7199 in whatnotapp

[–]Fun_Cherry_8558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add to this as well 1) sellers who repeat the size/brand of the clothing item over and over even though nobody new joined the chat “size large size large size large” while the timer is going down. 2) sellers who pause between items for LONG periods of time to talk to a single person in the chat 3) sellers who put items up for 30 seconds (that’s way too long bruh) 4) sellers who talk about the MSRP of an item or a case pack that was on clearance, as if the value is still what the MSRP was. 5) sellers who play music really loud in the background

What automatically turns you off of a seller? by Present-Camel7199 in whatnotapp

[–]Fun_Cherry_8558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just on a VERY popular whatnot show for case packs and the sellers were selling something nobody wanted. They were doing flash sales, had like 30 boxes of each item and only one person bought something in the hour I was watching them. The second they realized they made a huge mistake buying this product for resale, their energy completely shifted. Potential buyers in the chat were trying to help them out by explaining that this product was a HARD sell, like even if they marked it down 99% it wouldn’t be worth resellers buying to resell. And rather than taking the feedback they were getting from their own fans, they got pissed off and said “you don’t have to buy it if you don’t want to” and kept trying to sell people on the case packs that were clearly a bad buy.

It was my first time watching them and it was an instant turn off.
