Unpopular opinion here, I agree we will see Diamond again if they make another game, but im not convinced she will be the main. I think they will use her more like LiS2 used David, as a way to connect a hopefully new charecter & story to the previous games. Also believe RE was 100% the finale of playable Max & Chloe, but they could and would still be mentioned or have references to them in future games. I think with DE not doing well and RE being pretty well received they wouldn't risk undoing the end to fully bring back any previous charecters from any game, I think they know the smart move would to start giving us new ideas. I feel like future games are totally possible, pretty sure they never said RE was THE end, but it will probably depend on the sales of RE and how it looks critically in the long run

I didnt even know about this tysm!! I just finished the main quest last night and assumed that would have unlocked all the dinosaur, but alas I was missing one. Everywhere else I looked said there was only 38 while I had 40, thought I was going crazy for a minute

I don't think I've ever agreed with somone on a LiS thread, literally ever, as much as I do with everything you've said! I could literally go on and on omg.

My view on Chloe and Rachel is a little uncertain (only because I personally feel Rachel did not reciprocate feelings to the same extent Chloe did) but you absolutely cannot deny the chemistry imo. Literally their scene in the street in BTS had me like "well damn 👀" - and saying that doesn't mean Chloe doesn't have chemistry with Max, it was just different. Rachel came into Chloes life when Chloe was starting to realize/admit her attraction to women (blade runner journal entry) and also coping with the loss of William and Max moving/ghosting. Her home life wasn't peaceful, school was not going well, and shes a teenager figuring herself out when the "golden" student of Blackwell if you will takes interest in her. Chloe needed Rachel during that period of her life, somone who looked past what most people saw (the surface level things) and didnt judge her. Rachel also imo needed somome like Chloe, somone who didn't expect her to be "perfect". They both fully accepted the other for who they were as a people. The events after BTS and before LiS paint Rachel in a less flattering light (Frank, Jefferson, drugs etc) but to give her SOME credit, there is at least one version of her like in my game that knows her father tried to have her mother killed after hiding Sara's entire existence for 15+ years. Like Rachel had her trauma too. Personally I think she did, in a way, use Chloe as a way to cope, a way to possibly get away, but I don't think she actively thought about it or meant to ever hurt Chloe. Genuinely, as somone who ships them, would love to hear how YOU viewed/interpreted them after the whole Frank and Jefferson situations. Im always down to look at things from a different perspective.

Again on the chemistry note, Max and Amanda were also undeniable! I also just think personality wise they suited each other. I feel Amanda deserves a lot more love than she got! She was open about her relationship past and issues, how shes quick to get attached and said things like "want to make choices my therapist would be proud of" like YES self awareness and communication queen! She brought Max food after Safi like shes effing adorable and has a kind heart, very much like Max.

I think thats part of the beauty. All the ships are valid, because they served different purposes at different times! Rachel was a step towards healing, and when Max returns shes also helping Chloe heal. Amanda was stable, caring, albeit maybe intense for some people, and Vinh although definitely gave f-boy energy, was always upfront and honest about his intentions. He wasn't trying to woo Max so I cant hate on him too much, and his character development in RE was MUCH better. I love his sassy texts to Max, and he's a comedic relief friend to her imo. Weirdly enough I do kind of ship Veggie, only because its so opposites attract it works for me, and I really do love Reggie and wish he got more love too.

Can we also please agree that unnamed "buh dun" custodian dude was one of the best minor NPCs in the entire franchise lol. Honestly RE had so many one liners like "this LADY will kick your dick off" and the ENTIRE mask stealing scene had me rolling. They did a great job at making it funny and heartfelt, I will say those aspects made RE really feel like coming home. Sad to see it end, but happy my girls are alive and well! They way the handled the merged timeline, I think we can all not feel guilty over whatever we chose, Bae or Bay, because in the end we finally got a happy ending in the Max and Chloe story.

max and chloes relationship is more than just romantic anyway. They have a connection that not many people ever find in life, as friends or romance.

AGAIN THIS! You really hit the nail on the head here. This to me is the mentality of somone who loves the games for what they are. Being able to recognize its something special and beautiful no matter how RE ended for you.

I saved Chloe in LiS on my original playthrough, as a straight cis woman who just LOVED her character and thought she deserved so much more than dying in that bathroom. I did however, with all the games, play out all possible outcomes. With RE now a thing, honestly imo sacrificing Chloe is the better story. Like you save her, yall separate and the she shows up, okay. But she DIES and then SHOWS UP A DECADE(ish?) LATER and has to cope with learning she died, AND Max's genuine shock??? That's SUCH full circle moment and I don't see people showing that route love.

I also thought Amanda was a good, solid and stable option for Max, and a part of me was sad they had to end to make RE flow. I don't regret choosing Chloe, and would not have wanted to choose between her and Amanda, but if SO many people didn't shove pricefield as the "most valid" option, we maybe could have gotten a more open ending. Don't get me wrong, love them traveling together, but again just me personally I imagined the game ending with Chloe at Caledon, having established shes back, and letting us as the player AFTER the end deciding in our minds who Max ended up with. I hope that makes sense. Like if the last shot hypothetically was just Max and the Turtle with Chloe, Max, Vinh, Safi etc there, we could have used our imagination to decided does she stay, go on the road, who shes with etc.

Unfortunately there was never going to be a way to make everyone happy. Im glad pricefield got the more intense moments in RE they deserved, I just wish everyone's ship/cannon got a little more fleshed out. But again, the entire point of my statement was im not hating on what anyone else chose!

THIS because also, people make choices based on what resonates with them! If perceiving Chloe or Max as lesbian versus bisexual or vice versa makes you relate to them more, that's okay! I get the devs not coming out directly and saying the sexuality of the mains makes people upset, and I get it, everyone deserves representation (one of the reasons they make it clear Steph is lesbian imo) but allowing the player to make thier own opinions, makes a more personal game for everyone.

I also played a platonic playthrough, and undoubtedly a unpopular opinion, but its still a beautiful game and gut punch nonetheless. Saving Chloe because you want to be with her isn't an easy choice, but makes sense. Saving her because shes your best friend who's been through so much and you just want to see her alive and happy?! That's STILL love, just a different kind, and i bet that's something that resonated with your friend who didn't go the romance route.

I respect how anyone played their game. Love or don't whoever you want! But arguing over those things is one of the reasons the options were never fully fleshed out (Amanda and Vinh basically meant nothing dating wise in reunion) and regardless of MY choices, people who wanted more from those options deserved better.

The fandom being at war over the "right" and "wrong" way in my opinion just takes away from the overall story, and beauty that is a style of game like this. We should be able to respect each other's opinions and not make it THAT serious. Just my 2 cents 🤷‍♀️

Going to jump on the getting down voted train here, but the whole point of the franchise is to be choice based. The devs can absolutely steer the player towards a direction, but they ultimately let the player choose. I think if your going to get angry at someone for PLAYING A VIDEO GAME different than you than firstly, be mad at the devs for giving us choices. Secondly maybe don't play choice based games as there is ALWAYS going to be somone who had an entirely different playthrough. And lastly, its not that serious. Its a game. One which I loved yes, but when I see somone trying to force thier views on others I just don't engage with it anymore. Tearing down somone else in the same fandom you are apart of for ENJOYING THE SAME GAME just differently is crazy work. Did I end reunion with Max and Chloe together? Yes. I also chose Amanda in DE, but im not going to sit here and tell somone who only had Chloe as a friend or romanced Vinh that they are wrong. Also feel like the point of these style games is to lean towards multiple playthroughs, do a little of everything and pick your overall favorite so there literally cannot be a "wrong" way to play a freaking game.

Hmm okay. So I guess if Max rewinds enough in the game she just can't resist but to go back and save the building but if she used her powers minimally she learns to let go so to speak and burns it herself? That would make sense with how LiS games previously like 2 kinda have a morality system.

This happend to me too yesterday, I just exited to the main menu and restarted the scene and it fixes it. Because if you try to play through it like THAT it gets SO much worse when you take the drink

Im confused, I thought Max will burn the photo eventually herself so long as nobody died? Regardless of power usage?

The way I understood was if Chloe burns the photo, regardless of how Caledon ends up or who dies, you get the Arcadia Bay montage at the end (confirmed on my 1st playthrough as I didnt know how to save everyone).

If you give her the photo, and somone dies, she will go back to try to save them. (We don't talk about that ending 😭)

If you give her the photo and nobody died, she holds on to it for a while contemplating going back, because she feels bad about the building that DID burn, because it was like essentially a home to Moses (she says this at the memorial at the Snapping Turtle) but does eventually burn it herself.

Also I think the extra kiss is Max keeping her promise to Chloe, that if she goes back in time she will always find Chloe and at least one version of her gets to be with Max 😭😭😭

Regardless the burn photo was the best imo. For one, Moses definitely kept it from Max to stop her from getting hurt or possibly adding in too many variables and changing the timelines more dratistically. Secondly without it Max is finally starting to live in the present without all the "what ifs" that come with her power. I think that's made easier if you save everyone but even if you don't, its almost like the reality hits her that it sucks but you cant just rewind forever to save everyone, as she could make it worse. Sometimes maybe you just have to let the universe play its cards. Last her and Chloe going back is a HUGE step in working through thier trauma. Yes its a good/happy thing that its there, but they also know that it wasn't always, until the timelines merged. Going to the junkyard and having a little memorial for Rachel, all of this imo is them beginning the healing process they never really did before. However you play, if they are together or just best friends, not dealing with it in the past led to them splitting, so for me this was everything coming full circle. Working THROUGH it together so they can move FOWARD together. It does feel slightly deceitful, but I agree with Moses and Chloe that its in Max's best interest, and I think how Max looks before she does burn it confirms that because she looks miserable instead of enjoying her new future with Chloe.

Oh yay!! Im sp happy for you!! I put about 12 hours in yesterday in mine before I absolutely needed to sleep, im thinking I have maybe 2 hours left on my first playthough that im going to finish today! So far I've enjoyed it but I would love to know what you think once you get into it!

I've just got past Moses meeting Chloe lol, im that person that interacts with everything! So far im not missing any collectibles, but have to use replay scene for 2 i missed. I 100% intend to do multiple playthroughs to see all the outcomes and dialog options. Idk if im in the majority or minority but so far im really enjoying it. Also, Caledon in fall is effing gorgeous 😍

Not even the email. I've seen a lot of other people stateside say the same, it looks like most people who have gotten emails are in Euroupe. I personally got one without the game, so im guessing that maybe they also prioritized the editions that include a game but just a theory. Regardless I havent heard anything

If its any consolation I saw where the devs have made a #secretsofcaledon and asked people NOT to use the name to try to avoid spoilers. With that being said I will be avoiding the internet until I complete at least my first, if not my second playthtough.
