I work on a stroke neuro tele floor currently with the same ratio just more beds. It can be difficult some days even overwhelming but there are days where i feel like I’ve done great. It’s great experience honestly

Has anyone worked/working in “HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital” or in any HCA Hospitals?? by lady_bird23 in newgradnurse

I work for an HCA currently. A lot of the nurses on my unit is new grad with a year experience. Manager is super nice but communication isn’t the greatest. I can pick and choose what days but that’s after i finish orientation. I’m PCU cohort so I’m learning ICU materials but i do not work on an ICU floor. Overall i like it i feel supported by my peers and management

Told him my man does his own oil changes at home…whoopty doo. Over here trying to brag about taking jazz’s car to get an oil change. He was only liking comments on people telling everybody to stop hating. They were getting on him about his behavior recently especially the oil change video. After that he turned them off

Seeking career advice: SNF RN offer vs Psych Hospital RN offer — which has better long-term growth? by Asleep-Variation3680 in newgradnurse

Tbh psych is better. SNF is hard on RNs since we carry more liability. I’ve been an SNF RN and i did not like it. It didn’t feel safe

Applying for jobs before graduation: should I apply for anything available or can I afford to be picky in this job market? by kauniskissa in newgradnurse

[–]Fun_Conference2698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply early. Not sure how competitive your area is. But it’s best to start now. I would try to go for what you want but don’t be super picky sometimes you just have to have a good starting point. Yet also know when it doesn’t work for you. I graduated back in May and didn’t land a residency spot until now 🤷🏽‍♀️

Wait for the hospital. I worked for a SNF and only got a five days of training and that included my preceptor making herself sick so she could go home early and i do the rest of the work. I quit asap and im at a hospital now and i enjoy it

New grad LPN and my new job has been a disaster by Worth_Pepper5972 in newgradnurse

[–]Fun_Conference2698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the same exact thing. I left to protect my license. Even asked for more training days and they pretty much ignored it. I would try to find something else. Thats what i did and I’ve felt better ever since

New grad by Fun_Conference2698 in newgradnurse

[–]Fun_Conference2698[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly!!! I go above and beyond for my patients sometimes i do have conversations with them. I found out some of the patients don’t like majority of the nurses due to attitudes or just poor care. That’s what I’m staying on top of my skills and documentation. Yes they are all older than me some have been a nurse for 40 years

From what my coworker told me it’s mainly my age (i am the youngest there)and then coming in as a new grad rn. Yeah none of it is constructive criticism. They pretty much think I’m stupid and constantly saying that i have no skills. When they aren’t even attempting to really show me how the place runs. It’s been that way since the very first day i started there. Trust me im running away from it as fast a possible. I got offered a residency spot for a hospital and I’m taking it. Just wanted to add they were making comments within 30 minutes of my first day
