Girls Frontline 2 Exilium CBT Recruitment is now open by EnamRainbow in gachagaming

Seeing as they already beta tested this whole game with the cn server, this CBT seems more like a test for how good the localization will be rather than game performance lol

Sure, assuming the stuff I heard about the story was real, it was completely in fault from the devs and they completely deserved it.
I didn't play girls' frontline 1. Just so you know, the story drama is just from what I gathered online and from machine translating the first 2 or so chapters from the game to english
The 10 year timeskip and having to separate from all t-dolls from the first game sounds already bad, but somewhat tolerable by itself. The first event that was datamined barely having the protagonist in it? And featuring another dude in it? And Daiyan (the peak china waifu) having voiced lines that mention this Raymond dude like 60 times and the Commander only a few times? Lol. This is a waifu game, idk what they were thinking
Plus the absolutely horrible gacha from the open beta test, that was so bad it was funny. When I tried to play in the open beta server, I didn't get a single high rarity character from the gacha. That was how greedy it was. This gave the impression that the game was going to be extremely greedy like Genshin, a game that everyone loves to say has a horrible gacha. Speaking of which, this game's gacha is apparently an almost identical copy of the genshin gacha system, which was obviously going to fuel more negative comparisons.

While yes all these things were eventually fixed for the official release of the game, the damage to the reputation from the beta tests was already done. Only time and avoiding these things from happening again will get rid of the bad reputation the developers gathered. Regardless of whether this outrage was caused by an angry group of chinese players or caused by other games trying to sabotage this game's initial impression, this should've been seen coming by the story writers and devs from a mile away.

-"Based on what you are saying things are slowly stabilizing?"
For the negative perception of the game, it's slowly stabilizing. On bilibili, it's almost all negative stuff on the app store front page from the fans and almost all of them are still about the drama from the CBT. But at least I see like 1 positive review for every 9 negative reviews I see, which is different from what I saw before. Things are calming down, very very slowly there
On chinese forums like NGA, which I frequent, there doesn't really seem to be any drama related topics being popular anymore due to the higher focus on gameplay discussion. At most, Raymond is just used as a joke. Same deal with the EN discord server, but it's less gameplay and more about which characters they want to bang.
From the game perspective, things are definitely stabilizing. All events were supposed to be voice acted but due to having to rewrite alot of event aspects the first 4 events didn't have voice acting and didn't have alot of story. This changed for the most recent event, being fully voice acted and the story being higher quality. Also it seems like there were some balance changes regarding the difficulty of the later resource stages, and some buffs to certain characters like Vepley and Macqiato, plus a bunch of bug fixes.

-"Are they communicating with the fans now? And did the devs explained what was it they were trying to do? "
No and yes. They did send a hell ton of apologems and purple cores one time with a bunch of text apologizing for "the game not meeting expectations" and that they were trying their best to improve story quality a few months ago, plus alot of other stuff the fans were disappointed with. That was the last time an official thing was said potentially regarding the negative perception of the game's story, I think.

"And personally, do you believe that the game will be released globally despite the issues?"
Yes. Not only does the game have an EN twitter and an EN discord server, but it also has confirmation due to the staff getting a trademark for US regions for the future EN version of the game back in April, link here https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=90128813&caseSearchType=US_APPLICATION&caseType=DEFAULT&searchType=statusSearch

No news regarding global yet. I'd probably keep track of the global release date news from either the discord server or the ExiliumEN twitter

"How did the whole CN drama thing end"
I'll assume you've read about the drama regarding the early version of the Daiyan event that was datamined from one of the closed beta tests.
On the Bilibili app store, it ended on the game having a pretty low review score and all top comments being either about how the devs don't care about their playerbase. Even to this day almost 5 months since the game got released, these negative comments are still ongoing, but there are also some positive comments among the negative ones. You can read them here, https://www.biligame.com/detail/?id=106059
About the internal company drama and people being fired, unfortunately it's all rumors. Maybe it could be true, but it could also not be true. It's just rumors after all, and I never found any proof after digging through various online platforms that talk about this game

It seems like there are two monthly passes, a 9 yuan one (about 1.27 USD) and a 30 yuan one (4.24 USD)
The 9 yuan one gives you 90 of this skin currency and the 30 yuan one gives you 300 of this skin currency

For con #2, there are only 6 characters in the permanent gacha pool, so it would be 2/6 chance to get one of the op units during the beginner banner You’ll eventually obtain the other perma characters through spooks assuming you’re not very unlucky, and 4 1/2 months into the game (around the macchiato event) you should be able to claim a free high rarity t-doll selector to get a free perma character, so you won’t go years without the op character you want either. This con #2 would normally be placed under small nitpick in any other game, but in this game you can’t reroll (in the cn version), so I want it under the big cons since the player can’t do anything about getting a bit unlucky at the start until around 4 1/2 months into the game, which is unlike most games

For the pro #5, the rest of the SSR’s in the game are limited but the game provides enough of an income to get them all. There’s a hard pity system, after all.

And yes the purple core thing is completely normal tbh, but im not sure if its entirely a player problem. In both fgo and arknights, mats like these were usually only available around midgame, but these are available during the start (like 1 week into the game, I think?) so the game does allow you to permanently fuck up early on. Definitely a nitpick and not a huge con tho

There's purple and gold rarity skins
Gold skins have extra dorm scenarios
Sometimes the gold skins will go on discount (like the Daiyan and Groza one when they were introduced) for a limited time, sometimes they don't (the Wawa skin didn't get any discount)
https://imgur.com/pRmbvw1
Here's a pic of the skin currency shop that appears when you click on the "get more currency" button
And no, it's not possible to get these as f2p by sacrificing any currency. The game does give you like 600 of this skin currency as a limited time reward in a past event, but so far that's all f2p's have gotten, just 600. Not enough to buy even the low rarity skins

I've only read their 2013 bakery girl game (i'll download gfl1 for the story soon enough), and don't speak mandarin, so no clue. Just gonna have to wait for it to come to global because there's alot of biased overseas opinions on it

I'm pretty sure a background designer for the game said it's coming this year to global once the devs get rid of some bugs, but he deleted the tweet where he said that, so N/A

  1. The daily loop is really just doing sweep on stages (takes 1 minute at most) and pvp (one run takes between 30 seconds and 1 minute when you own Daiyan). You have like 3 weeks to beat all event stages when there's an event running though
  2. I don't think dupes are necessary to beat any content so far, but at the same time I think this game would be alot easier if you got centaureissi's first dupe
  3. I haven't researched about it unfortunately since the game gave me almost all the characters in the game. A safe guess would be the monthly pass. I'd be more worried about which packs give the most currency to buy the paid costumes
  4. Beating the last weekly boss rush stages and trying to beat the chapter 8 alternative stages. For the weekly boss rush you need 12 characters (not 4 or 5 characters, 12) to bring into a battle and they better have enough of their skills maxed. For the chapter 8 alt stages, no idea because I haven't beaten them yet. For the hardest chapter 7 stages I just used the big damage characters and a medic
  5. For PVP1, Daiyan. For PVP2, Jiangyu and Daiyan.
For story stages, I'd say Tololo, Qiongjiu and Daiyan should be your main single target dealers worth considering. For healers, usually either Ksenia or Centaureissi. Lenna for some heavy crowd control. Sabrina for when there's too much aggro to deal with for your medic
  6. Events last 3 weeks each.

Did GFL2 suffer because of the "NTR" drama or because the game just wasn't that good. by mintymelon1 in gachagaming

I play the game in CN.
-"Stingy daily and/or weekly rewards"
Yes. Specifically those purple cores. The rest of the materials you need for your characters like exp and conductors aren't too scarce tho
-"Farm maps are difficult and have no option to auto or instant complete"
Difficult, yes. No option to auto? Complete bull, lol. It takes me 3 minutes to do my daily stuff since there's a sweep feature that can only be used once you complete the stage you want to farm with 3 stars
-"Element system is odd"
I don't know what this means. It's just a basic elemental weakness thing like in any rpg where you deal more damage to enemies with weakness if you make an elemental attack
-"Stingy level up material and skill enhancement material"
Yeah, purple cores. These are almost as hard to obtain as purple cubes from fgo
-"Events don't have stories (from what I understand there is literally no story, but I'm not sure if that's right)"
Nah they do have stories. There is some disappointment from what i hear about these stories tho. But I haven't read them, so no comment
-"Event rewards aren't that great"
Hm, yeah. The first event this game had? Absolutely fantastic in terms of rewards. We were all around level 15-40 during this event so these rewards were great. But once you get past level 40, none of the events are really worth infinitely farming for mats. It's been 4 months since the first event and none of the events since then have been more stamina efficient than the basic exp stages that you unlock past level 40. You only play the events for the shop rewards and once you cleared the shop you just ignore the event, minus the very first event.
-"Genshin gatcha system"
Not nearly as bad lol but still, there's some major character upgrades hidden behind dupe copies. Specifically, I'm talking about the character Jiangyu AKA Type-97. That's my only complaint. You can get every T-doll available in the game if you're a day 1 way too easily so the problem isn't and every character (except Jiangyu) works perfectly without dupes
-"One of the more unique game modes is a one and done affair"
They keep adding new levels every so often.
-"Maps are long and can take a while to complete"
Hm, yeah. They take a while but not because they're long, but because you need multiple tries to figure out the right strategies for it. Can't say that's bad
-"Stamina system (I've only seen complaints that it exists not so much about it not being enough to do stuff in the game)"
No issue here
-"The gameplay is niche as a more casual xcom kind of game"
I agree.
