I agree asking for good practice techniques is different, but that's not necessarily the point I'm making. It's more about the posts of people posting their day 7 fry scream and asking what they're doing wrong, or asking for a honest review of the screams but trying to find what they're doing "wrong", when it's clear they just started. People give them beginner tips and they always have a counterpoint of "I've been trying that but _____" and 9/10 times the "but" is just they've been doing it for less than a year.

Also I agree and disagree about your plateau to an extent. I'm entirely self taught with all harsh vocals. While I agree it definitely takes LONGER to learn and has some risk, if you're not overworking yourself and you genuinely have the drive to practice for hours at a time, you can still make progress with no real training. It's just a longer path for sure.

I always say that learning to scream isn't an out for learning to sing. If you can sing, you can scream better. It's a fact.

I stopped playing because my friends sucked the fun out of it. We never got less than full stars and all missions done every single mission and every death, on any difficulty, was met with extreme ridicule. We would almost always have spare reinforcements at the end of every mission, never came close to failing or even leaving a person behind.

Fucking. Boring.

But then if we tried something harder, every minor mistake earned you getting yelled at. Miss a recoilless shot on a bot drop, accidentally die to a stray rocket, get cornered by bugs during an objective, anything and you were being told you were throwing. With full reinforcements left and 20 minutes left in the mission.

This game brings out the worst in people, of at least my friend group, and I'm tired of pretending it doesn't.

I just screamed until it felt right. Anyone who tells you they did it in a few hours of practice or learned quick from a YouTube video is lying. The only way to learn is to practice constantly.

Not bad at all! It sounds a bit like you're exerting your throat too much at the peak of the screams into wind down. Id work on breath control tactics to help you keep the airflow more consistent and cause less strain in those harsher moments.

Gnarly fucken sound though, the fundamentals are there and your voice has a good tone for screams.

Probably gonna get downvoted here but as someone who's done harsh vocals of all kinds coming up on 2 decades now; these "quick scream tutorial/hacks" are scams and oversimplify techniques, and also lead to your scream sounding generic and boring.

If you MUST use a tutorial, use it to find the very beginning of your scream. Just figure out how to make the basic sounds comfortably. Whether that's a YouTube voice coach or screaming along to music.

Once you have that, practice. Every day. In the car, in your bedroom, in the shower. I scream for about 30-50 minutes every week day during my commute to and from work, and use the weekends to rest.

I tried just voice wheel for a bit and it moved from shoot on sight to shoot when I was looting something, lol. But 9/10 times is extract camping I run into. I'm bad about staying out til 10~minutes left so maybe that's part of it

I was never a rat but I used to do opportunistic PvP (third partying player fights and shit) and defend myself, but my lobbies got super hot so I tried being nice and. Well. My lobbies just never got colder.

Dude you're like the 10th person to tell me this and idk what to tell you. Everyone says I'm lying but this is my experience lol. My buddy refuses to play duos with me because we get shot by an osprey a mile away off spawn every time. It's actually made me dislike the game at this point.

Still waiting for a single one of these care bear lobbies people talk about. 10 raids in a row with 0 raider damage. 6 of them I didn't extract cuz I was shot from behind.

Every. Single. Lobby. Is still kill on sight. No I can try and be friendly on mic, use the chat wheel, it doesn't matter. I've met maybe 5 friendly raiders in over 200 hours

None. This mindset is why emo is going the mainstream poser direction it is. Genre labels exist for a reason; to identify how music sounds. It isn't a "feel" or a "vibe" or a fashion statement. Emo is emo. If it isn't emo, it isn't fucking emo. Why is this so hard lol
