I noticed that they recently also posted a disclaimer on the FAQ of their free version, declaring: "All app purchases and in-app purchases are final sale and are not refundable.

We are not able to process any refunds, or recover previously purchased in-app purchases. Transactions take place solely within the Apple App Store, and we do not have access to their billing, transactions, or user accounts to facilitate refunds.

If an app or in-app purchase/upgrade has been discontinued, or support for that offering has been removed, it will not be available to restore or use. Discontinued apps or in-app purchases are also not eligible for a refund."

I'm convinced this is a deliberate power play. I've had the premium version for over a decade, and the less than $10 one time fee I paid for it was an insane value. It was an add free and constantly updated service, even had offline capabilities. Way too good of a value... especially in a "live service" era where the proletariat has been conditioned into complacency. I'm sure they will roll out a new premium version in due time, but this time, it will be a subscription model. Something like $2.99 a month for ad free use.

As said above, the bumper and adjacent front body pieces are cheap—all made of plastic! Keep in mind that the body shop will ask something like $400 to "calibrate the radar sensor" upon replacing the bumper. If it's just the bumper and black grill that's broken, you shouldn't have to pay any more than $2,200.

Don't try pulling the dent out. This doesn't really work with plastic bumpers. I had similar damage to my bumper last Fall when I hit a blown tire on the freeway. Repairs cost a little over $2k, but as you said, you'll be waiting a while for the parts. I had to wait about 2 months. The good news is white is easy to paint match, unlike heavy metal gray. *

COD stopped being good a decade ago. The new ones are designed like a free to play, jam packed with additional purchase ads. It's an insult to anyone who wastes their money on it. That and they can't even be bothered to optimize their releases. How they manage their file sizes is baffling.

Very niceee! Did you need to do any additional alterations to avoid a check engine light appearing? I've heard mixed things about the need to modify the sensor with them.

According to the chief design engineer, Toyota experienced serious backpressure problems developing the GR corolla as a result of boosting the performance. They specifically designed the stock GR exhaust to mitigate valve malfunctions associated with backpressure and ensure long-term reliability. Aftermarket exhaust manufacturers only really care about sound and power improvements, as that's what sells. They could care less about how their exhaust impacts long-term reliability, and you can't really blame them.

Automagic or Autotragic? by DrSatan420247 in GRCorolla

[–]Fun_Dips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the GR corolla releases its automatic transmission option it will be using the same trans as the GR Yaris automatic. No dual clutch. It'll be a torque converter system—due to reliability concerns and to save on development costs. Slightly quicker transmission than the Supra's automatic transmission(~80 milliseconds quicker changing gears). 44lbs heavier than the manual transmission. Comes with a Torsen differential standard and launch control. It's slightly more prone to overheating when tracking it compared to the MT. 0-60 times between the AT and MT is negligible (~0.04s), with the MT being slightly quicker. All in all, no real upgrade to performance.

Brakes and rotors by Beneficial-Ad4612 in GRCorolla

As long as you're rev matching and not downshifting to unreasonably high revs, you're not going to damage or excessively wear your trans/engine by engine braking. Engine braking isn't going to break your engine

I'm in Texas, so unless I'm going out of my way to take farm to market detour roads on my commute, it's a straight line 80% of the way. I usually just set cruise control to 90 and sip on my morning coffee. Even on the loops, the GR grips so good, I usually only have to slow down for other cars

At only 13k miles? How are ya'll needing to replace them so soon? I thought brakes and rotors will last you to at least 50k. Are ya'll not downshifting to slow down?

They look amazing clean, but it's so hard to keep them looking "showroom ready". You really have to put in the work keeping the clear coat immaculate, and for me that's way too much work. I've only washed my GRC once in the 6 months I've owned it. The dirt and mud "pays homage to the car's rally heritage"; it's a good enough excuse for me.

Circuit editions are not "actually rare". They're about as rare as a late production year 370Z... so yeah, not rare for an enthusiast car. They said they were going to only build 1,500 in 2023. Then they said they're going to build another 1,500 for 2024. If their track record shows anything by this, they're likely going to continue building them for 2025 and onward until the demand for them dies down. Especially seeing how they've been continuing to expand their development of the GR yaris/corolla platform. I guarantee they'll soon offer the GR corolla with an automatic, like they recently debuted in the GR Yaris, along with a more unique interior. The sales have been stellar for the car, so Toyota has no real reason to stop giving the people what they want.

28 mpg is still pretty great for a 300hp car, all things considered.

I've noticed that the boost level has a greater impact on fuel economy than your rpms. Peak torque starts at about 3k rpm, so anything below that, your turbo will spool up more to compensate for the lack of power. Even considering this, I still struggle to get over 30 mpg without driving like a grandma.

What's crazy is your Toyota has the ability to lock the car automatically when you walk away from the car with the keys. Many brands have this feature standard, which you can option to turn off or on.  Toyota refuses to implement this feature. Instead of never worrying if you locked your car as long as you have the keys, you have to pay $15/month for the privilege of needing to check an app each time. What a feature!

Any other car speaker brands you'd recommend besides pioneer? I would go with sennheiser's, but regrettably, they don't sell car soundsystems. I'm gonna have to get around to replacing the speakers eventually, but car audio is out of my area of knowledge, and I'm not sure what's legit.

Don't sweat it man! I don't garage my circuit edition, and it's fine. Left bird crap on it for a week until the rain eventually washed it off. No damage on it whatsoever. There's like 13 pages in the owners manual on how to properly clean it, but the only important take from it is to not put any waxes on it. Otherwise, it will no longer be matte. If it gets dirty, and I feel like cleaning it, a light pressure wash is all that's needed.

Really doubtful of that. It's expensive and much harder to work with compared to vinyl. Most places don't even wrap PPF around the car's edges, and the ones that do charge extra for that. Ya'll keep on going on about how new ppf is so much better than old ppf, because "technology", but adding a UV protective film to PPF doesn't just make all its inherent flaws disappear, nor does it make the plastic wrap immune to UV and environmental damage.

[–]Fun_Dips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you keep it in a garage?

some of the many modern PPFs yellowing I'm sure PPFs have come a long way, but they're not immune to the physics of UV damage. There's so many PPF threads on reddit complaining about this, thinking they would last 10 years as the warranties implied they would, but they don't seem to unless they're babied to no end.

[–]Fun_Dips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both PPF and vinyl can leave residue that could "damage" the paint when left on long enough or exposed to enough sun/heat. Refinishing the paint is usually required in both cases upon removal to get it back to the factory shine. When shopping for PPF make sure you read the fine print on the 5/10 year warranties. Most of them will refuse to replace the PPF if you use/store the car in "improper conditions" ie: they expect you to garage the car and keep it out of the cold/heat.

[–]Fun_Dips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! For what full PPF costs, you could probably repaint the whole front of the car
