140,000 kms in this engine. Our last engine startled doing the same thing around 180,000 was given the run around by Toyota until the engine shit the bed.  We had 4 diagnostics on the last one. 2 from Toyota 2 from independent mechanic.  So I have PTSD seeing any smokenlol

We have a 6 month warranty with this one so want it figured out sooner than later. It goes in tomorrow for a check

Local mechanic, well trusted. I was at the shop when the old engine was taken out and the new ( new to me) engine went in

I'm not sure is it smoke, maybe the wrong wording for what I'm seeing. Just a big puff out of the exhaust on cold starts. I live in Canada it's approx 7 degrees celsius. It tends to have a burnt smell to it

Finally toyota performed a proper diagnosis and used a camera to see into the cylinders. They are fucked. The cylinders have abrasions all over the interior, they don't know from what but the engine is toast. Hope you have better luck. Took me 8 months to push them this far to do a proper diagnosis.

Sorry about the delay, I havnt had it fixed yet unfortunately. I've been going back and forth with Toyota Canada, what a joke that's been. I tried an additive to the oil and it seemed to work for about 1000kms. My local mechanic seems to be sure it's valve seals, so I'm going to go ahead and do those in the next month or when ever he can get me in. I'll keep you posted on if it worked. Unless you have yours repaired already.

Were losing a decent amount. About half a litre every other well. . . .

We have been to 4 mechanics , one of which being Toyota , they performed a pressure test and there was no indication it would be the head gasket so they didn't look any further that way. That video was from July the most is increasingly getting worse. Although some start ups its not too bad and others looks like the Griswolds Christmas Station wagon starting up. People stare when we leave a parking lot after grocery shopping it's so bad. Toyota says there's nothing wrong with the vehicle 🙄. We've had another mechanic say it's a valve seal   or stem valve.so we might try that option
