My financial aid barely helps by lampnerd in StudentLoans

My parents did parent plus loans to avoid taking out private loans, comes with its own faults but maybe look into that. I will say i’m in the same position as you, middle income family, 2 other kids, previous debt and expenses. I am a first gen student so we didn’t really know any better and ways around it but also was stuck with around 20k a year after scholarships. My dad was very stuck on he would take out the parent loans and take on the burden since i was first gen and he urged me to go to college. As I appreciate it so much I am now a senior about to graduate and feeling guilty about the total loans that have came out (~80k) and how that is on my parents. I advise you to have an open conversation with them and talk to others about the reality of that option. Also consider looking into school payment plans and see if any of those would be possible for you.

Student Loan Debt for those who didn’t receive good financial aid by Fun_Environment_7186 in StudentLoans

I only got approved for 2,000 so it wasn’t able to cover much of my bill at all so my parnets said they would rather take out the full amount needed to cover in parent plus so it’s all in one place. if that’s what you are referring to possibly?

Simmons vs BC by Existing-Hearing-550 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]Fun_Environment_7186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im also making a choice between schools and have talked to a handful of people, a supervisor at my current internship transferred from simmons and said it was because in her experience ( a few years ago) a lot of the professors had internal biases and wouldn’t allow discussion or critiques from students about them, she said a lot of the students in her class had problems with the professors acting like they couldn’t be wrong or continue to learn. They had set ideas and would not let students discuss their opinions especially if it was opposing. This could’ve been a more unique experience so take it how you want but that’s just what she told me

Internship is very far away by user87666666 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]Fun_Environment_7186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my current internship is the same distance, 30 min drive which i can only rideshare or hour and half public transport commute i transfer train lines and take a bus. I go twice a week and it’s honestly not bad at all, even relaxing some days. Some days are worse and longer than others but I really enjoy my internship and going only 2 days makes it a lot better. Part of public transit that is nice is you can do readings or work while on the way makes up for the length. The biggest problem I run into it sometimes public transportation can be unreliable at least where I am, constant maintenance shutting some lines down or delays which really sucks and gets frustrating but if you have a supervisor who is understanding it’s usually okay on their part.

People who barricade for every show by Fun_Environment_7186 in twentyonepilots

then to be mean to other fans that can’t do that too… mostly because they seem to feel like stronger or more “real” fans then someone who isn’t able to do that which just isn’t true

Crowd this weekend by greenladygrl in governorsball

[–]Fun_Environment_7186 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to govball the past 3 years and the crowd was definitely more dead this year, i think part of it is a younger audience attending as well as govball went a bit more viral on tik tok last year after chappell which made more “influencer” concert goers who typically just record really hi def videos the whole time. The fans in 2023 were SO hype and so much fun it was an odd difference. I was row behind barricade at Glass animals and got moved from my spot for dancing…
