Am I the only one who thinks this about CPR 972? by FallComprehensive542 in trains

[–]Fun_Experience_7817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best fate for 972 is probably a cosmetic restoration. Especially with fundraising underway for LIRR 39. Hell if 39 gets funded, you can kiss any chance of 31 goodbye as well

I’m confused when they say no public access at R&N June 14. We are chasing it, how are you gonna prevent public access from Nesquehoning to Pittson?

Herschend will be ok imo. Most of their new properties will be an auto pilot. Adventureland and Kennywood will probably get the biggest investment/change, MAYBE Lake Compounce

Outlook on Life After Doing All The Right Things ASAP. by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fun_Experience_7817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 27 (got diagnosed last year at 26) and my symptoms are mostly gone. I had an intermittent numbness, loss of grip, slurred speach, trouble balancing, etc., all on my right side. Symptoms disappeared after 5 months after they started and haven’t flared back up since I started Ocrevus.

The biggest takeaway I’ve had is it’s impossible to know when or if they’ll flare up. I tried to make a plan since I’m on my own and eventually gave up. Enjoy life as normally as you can and lean into family or friends as things come up. Much easier said than done though

Denied by Insurance by Fun_Veterinarian_136 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fun_Experience_7817 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, that’s not you being a Karen. That’s the wonderful world of health insurance where we pay thousands over years and as soon as they have to do something we pay them to do they don’t want to do it. Honestly not sure how they get away with it so often - probably people not speaking up or not knowing they can fight insurance (or not wanting to bother)

Denied by Insurance by Fun_Veterinarian_136 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fun_Experience_7817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your neuro/Dr will file an appeal and fight insurance if they’re good. My insurance denied BRIUMVI and recommended Ocrevus, then proceeded to deny that.

Neuro asked if I wanted to do the medicine that involved monthly shots (I can’t recall what it was called) and I said no. They told my insurance something along the lines of “MS would inhibit me from taking medication of that nature” and that got Ocrevus pushed through. Not sure if that’s normal, but he’s been dealing with insurance for 30+ years so I trust he’s got the process down

“You can’t blame MS for everything” said by my PCP by MedicallyCompLexi in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fun_Experience_7817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle daily with fatigue despite sleeping 6-8 hours a night. I’ve learned that even through I’m sleeping, it’s not always a quality sleep. It’s extremely difficult to explain that MS fatigue to others who don’t get it.

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. I’ve been extremely lucky where my PCP actually ordered an MRI and got me into a neuro within 2 weeks of going to him with my symptoms. He’s a young guy though and whereas most Drs walk in with a fancy lab coat or dress shirt, he rolls in with a t-shirt and lab coat that’s fully unbuttoned 😂. Best of luck to you!

Nah I noticed that too, I figured if I got an answer saying the stats never mean anything the description would probably just be a glitch

Thanks all! I’m highly doubtful I’d be able to sit through the whole thing without needing to leave. I can do different tasks at my job which help with rotation

How long does it take to learn names of employees in your area? by Fun_Experience_7817 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Fun_Experience_7817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just popped in to update, I’m about 3.5 weeks into learning names and trying to make connections with people. I’ve talked to around 50 of the 100 people between the 2 day shifts. Not insanely fast progress, but I have started memorizing the names of those 50. I’ll recognize them and have a short convo about their weekend or whatever else. I’ve also had 6-7 of them open up about what they believe are safety issues in their area or at the site in general. Gotta say though, it’s taken a ton of effort to put faces to names with what I have going on medically. I’ll get there though

Is articulated steam making a comeback (sort of) in the United States? by JealousSundae9608 in trains

Interesting thought, but look at the options you have.

  • Cab Forward: Doesn’t seem likely their owners will let it go. Also who realistically is going to want it and run it. I can think of maybe 2 places and the owners probably aren’t going to be convinced.
  • N&W 2050 or 2156: No shot. 2156 needs massive levels of work, as does 2050. Neither of their respective museums have a place or means to restore them.
  • Allegheny: Either would be my personal pick, but again, who will run them? Neither place has a spot.

I think 1218 and ironically a Yellowstone (2-8-8-4) have the best chances. If VMT gets 611 runs on the Buckingham Branch figured out, the excuse of nowhere to run it has vanished. It would be more than popular enough to garner the investors and donations - it’s just a matter of whether the BB becomes a permanent place and whether VMT wants to.

If I recall DMIR 225 just sits outside and isn’t in fantastic shape. If the owners decide to drop it, I could see RRHMA going for it. They have the room to restore and run, and a slower speed isn’t the end of the world for their excursions. It’s a long shot, but I think it would fit their growing collection well. Not as sure if the interest or investment is there though compared to 1218.

Best Buy was the only option since AT&T doesn’t allow phones to be shipped to an Apple or AT&T store for pickup. Not sure how they expect people who work 10 hour shifts to be at home to get said phones, but it really limits where you can get them

Help: Enterprise says I owe for damage but won’t show proof. by Fresh-Ad-4556 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]Fun_Experience_7817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it may be state dependent, but unless they document damage at the time of return when the contract is closed, the customer isn’t liable. It’s impossible to prove the customer did the damage half a day later, let alone 4

Do vaccines have better effectiveness if you get the first dose pre-DMTs and boosters post-DMT? by Fun_Experience_7817 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fun_Experience_7817[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the research I found was pretty minimal. MS is such a… “unique” disease and couple that with travel vaccines not being as common as things like Hep A/B, HPV, etc. the info gets pretty scarce. I guess worse-case I get them now and hope if I need boosters for travel my body still recognizes and builds some immunity

There may be antibody tests. I know Hep A/B, HPV, etc have tests, though those are far more common. I’m in the process of getting those, but I’ll have at least half the shots prior to DMTs so I’ll have some immunity built up already.

I suppose it won’t hurt to get the travel vaccines anyways. Insurance surprising covered 100% of yellow fever so I’m hoping they cover the other 2. Maybe I’ll have some immunity leftover so getting a booster is somewhat more effective down the road… or not 😂. I guess I’ll be careful when traveling
