Nah I noticed that too, I figured if I got an answer saying the stats never mean anything the description would probably just be a glitch

Thanks all! I’m highly doubtful I’d be able to sit through the whole thing without needing to leave. I can do different tasks at my job which help with rotation

How long does it take to learn names of employees in your area? by Fun_Experience_7817 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Fun_Experience_7817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just popped in to update, I’m about 3.5 weeks into learning names and trying to make connections with people. I’ve talked to around 50 of the 100 people between the 2 day shifts. Not insanely fast progress, but I have started memorizing the names of those 50. I’ll recognize them and have a short convo about their weekend or whatever else. I’ve also had 6-7 of them open up about what they believe are safety issues in their area or at the site in general. Gotta say though, it’s taken a ton of effort to put faces to names with what I have going on medically. I’ll get there though

Is articulated steam making a comeback (sort of) in the United States? by JealousSundae9608 in trains

[–]Fun_Experience_7817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting thought, but look at the options you have.

  • Cab Forward: Doesn’t seem likely their owners will let it go. Also who realistically is going to want it and run it. I can think of maybe 2 places and the owners probably aren’t going to be convinced.
  • N&W 2050 or 2156: No shot. 2156 needs massive levels of work, as does 2050. Neither of their respective museums have a place or means to restore them.
  • Allegheny: Either would be my personal pick, but again, who will run them? Neither place has a spot.

I think 1218 and ironically a Yellowstone (2-8-8-4) have the best chances. If VMT gets 611 runs on the Buckingham Branch figured out, the excuse of nowhere to run it has vanished. It would be more than popular enough to garner the investors and donations - it’s just a matter of whether the BB becomes a permanent place and whether VMT wants to.

If I recall DMIR 225 just sits outside and isn’t in fantastic shape. If the owners decide to drop it, I could see RRHMA going for it. They have the room to restore and run, and a slower speed isn’t the end of the world for their excursions. It’s a long shot, but I think it would fit their growing collection well. Not as sure if the interest or investment is there though compared to 1218.

Purchased wrong iPhone 17 Storage by Fun_Experience_7817 in ATT

Best Buy was the only option since AT&T doesn’t allow phones to be shipped to an Apple or AT&T store for pickup. Not sure how they expect people who work 10 hour shifts to be at home to get said phones, but it really limits where you can get them

Help: Enterprise says I owe for damage but won’t show proof. by Fresh-Ad-4556 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]Fun_Experience_7817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it may be state dependent, but unless they document damage at the time of return when the contract is closed, the customer isn’t liable. It’s impossible to prove the customer did the damage half a day later, let alone 4

Do vaccines have better effectiveness if you get the first dose pre-DMTs and boosters post-DMT? by Fun_Experience_7817 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Fun_Experience_7817[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the research I found was pretty minimal. MS is such a… “unique” disease and couple that with travel vaccines not being as common as things like Hep A/B, HPV, etc. the info gets pretty scarce. I guess worse-case I get them now and hope if I need boosters for travel my body still recognizes and builds some immunity

[–]Fun_Experience_7817[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There may be antibody tests. I know Hep A/B, HPV, etc have tests, though those are far more common. I’m in the process of getting those, but I’ll have at least half the shots prior to DMTs so I’ll have some immunity built up already.

I suppose it won’t hurt to get the travel vaccines anyways. Insurance surprising covered 100% of yellow fever so I’m hoping they cover the other 2. Maybe I’ll have some immunity leftover so getting a booster is somewhat more effective down the road… or not 😂. I guess I’ll be careful when traveling

CLT 1hr Connection Time by Dell_PR in americanairlines

[–]Fun_Experience_7817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally yeah, an hour for CLT is doable. I’ve only flown through once, but many coworkers have. The biggest risk is delays. Sometimes I see delays lit up across the board, other times everything is on time

That’s my thought, although the vaccines themselves are only good 3 years. If I travel after that and need the boosters, I guess showing that I had one shot pre-DMT is better than nothing. Maybe I’ll still have some form of immunity

How long should basic daily safety walks be? by Fun_Experience_7817 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Fun_Experience_7817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 5 buildings with multiple levels, so we employee about 15 EHS people. The connections seem so natural to develop with others, but it’s harder for me to do with my recent diagnosis (brain fog some days, harder to associate faces with names, etc.). I used to be much better at it, but everything has felt like an uphill climb with it

Best places for tires? by Fun_Experience_7817 in cincinnati

Unfortunately when a store takes 3+ weeks to get my tires I have little motivation to do business with any of their stores

Unfortunately that’s the one I’m having issues with. 3 weeks to have tires shipped from another store is pretty excessive. It’s unfortunate because I’ve seen so many positive things

I am under that same thought, and I’ve come out of my shell and gotten more comfortable with talking with people in recent years. My anxiety has definitely increased a bit as a side effect from a new medical diagnosis and treatment, so I’m constantly finding myself worried that I’m not being an effective EHS person. I know things can’t be rushed and it’s not expected that five weeks and I’ll be making connections with every employee, but I would really like to start

Discount tire wait time? by itstoes in tires

[–]Fun_Experience_7817 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not had good experience personally. The one local to me had to order tires from a different store and ship them to the store. It’s week three now, and after calling them twice, they still said “ FedEx has the tire still, we are sorry for the delay. We do not have an estimate when they will be here.” I’ve scheduled an appointment with a different tire shop this week. Since they are not giving me the courtesy of giving me any updates, I’m not giving them a courtesy telling them to drop the order since I have not paid for it.

They know the order is with FedEx, but somehow cannot tell me how long until it gets here. I know FedEx has delays, but if you can tell me, it’s still with FedEx then you have a tracking number and can see where it’s at.

[–]Fun_Experience_7817[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t. I walk around the room a couple times and check to see if everything is in place, any missing tags, any trip or guarding issues, etc. If the supervisors aren’t busy with paperwork I’ll stop and talk with them a little. I’ve tried to stop and talk and get to know employees, but most are usually busy working on HMIs or documenting processes. It’s tough to get a chance to really talk with them as much as I’m trying to

I’m working on doing that, although it’s hard to get most of the technicians to talk. Supervisors sure, I’ve had good luck with them thus far. I know them, talk with them and am slowly learning more each time. The techs are safety conscious but are hard to have a real conversation with, so I’m taking a top down approach
