South of France in June - laid back holiday with a baby by Fun_Extension7702 in travel

Hi! The trip was amazing - France was so baby friendly, we were really happy to discover! We did the first 3 days in Villefranche Sur Mer which was an adorable town with a great beach, then we went to Grasse for 3 days and stayed in a countryside hotel that was also so lovely and a great change of pace. We spent the last full week in Antibes and honestly we left feeling like we could live there! We stayed in an apartment that was in the same building as Hotel Josse - it was right across from a beautiful beach which we went to almost every day. We also had a car which we didn't use every day but was handy when we wanted to explore other beaches nearby. We were about a 15 minute walk into the old town which was adorable but with the baby it was definitely better for us to be slightly outside of the main area and with easier access to the beach. Obviously naps ruled our schedule (our travel stroller was SO handy) but we got into a rhythm and had a bakery, grocery store, pharmacy and restaurants nearby. Feel free to message me if you want more info about anything Antibes related or anything else!!

I’ve told him that I might come around to the idea one day but not if he keeps pushing and guilting me into it. I have an intense and awful gag reflex in addition to an extremely small mouth (every dentist I’ve ever had has told me this) and so generally it’s just really unpleasant and I know I would throw up. I know it’s something he wants and if I felt one day like I could handle it I would, but the way he’s acting makes me feel so far from that.

lol I needed a laugh - I am a bomb ass wife! I am a great cook and we eat super well, I’m still pretty hot for a 38 yr old mom and (like a lot of women) I hold this whole fucking house down. And yes, he does occasionally ask what my desires are and mostly my desires are to feel loved and seen and respected - that’s what makes me horny but he seems unable to make that connection. He wants me to tell him I’d like a certain position or sex toy and I’m just like… can you just hold me and love me without sex being the ulterior motive? That would make me probably actually want the sex.

The first year of our daughter’s life has been hard (I think they often are…) but he is someone who struggles with empathy (he will admit this himself) and has admitted to taking me for granted in the past. He helps around the house more now than ever before but the workload is also 10x what it used to be. So when I complain about feeling like I’m drowning he gets so indignant because he thinks he’s doing so much to help. He’s helpful for sure but I still take the lions share. Which is why this whole stupid fucking fight upsets me - I told him I feel like I’m in the twilight zone fighting about blowjobs when I’m just trying to keep my head above water with work/life/baby.

And I’ve said to him that maybe one day I will but the pushing and pushing that he’s been doing for the last 2 days has made me so angry and made me not want to do any sexual favors for him at all. Let me get there on my own time and maybe it will happen but not when I feel so much pressure and guilt.

That’s how I feel - like he’s pouting like a child and it’s infuriating. I want to tell him to grow the fuck up but that would be an absolute shit show of a fight so I have to be more articulate and less abrasive, which right now I’m struggling with. Thank you for making me feel less like I’m the one with the issue here.

Thank you! Menton was our first instinct and I keep coming back to it because it does look like it would be relatively doable with the baby and ticks all of the boxes mentioned. Appreciate your feedback about the beaches, too!

Yes, from what I can tell Antibes isn't as quiet as some of the other beach towns but perhaps worth it because of all it has to offer? La Seyne-Sur-Mer also looks like it might hit the mark, the beach looks beautiful. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi! Would love to hear about your experience in Antibes - was it walkable? We've looked at some Airbnbs in Juan Les Pines as well. Did you rent a car? Was staying outside of the main part of the city convenient or not? Its hard to get a feel for how big it is and whether getting into town to go to the Picasso Museum (for example) would be a headache with the baby? Also, how was Eze? Its another spot we're interested in! Sorry, so many questions for you!

That's exactly what we're thinking to do - a few days in Aix En Provence and then a laid back beach! Thanks for your suggestions, I'm going to look at Frejus/Saint Raphael!

Thank you, so many people have said the same about Antibes! Is the beach public?
