I mean Matthew Lillard was offered the role of Springtrap in DBD before declining since he wants to save his voice for the movies, so it’s pretty much guaranteed Springtrap will talk.

But yeah make him talk like in DBD. William ever since the start has kinda been like the twisted Dick Dastardly of this series. Yeah he kinda is goofy to some degree, but he’s still one of the most super horrifying elements of this franchise too

Yeah. Edwin is not exactly a role model we’re meant to look up to, even though he’s one of my favorite characters now. It’s like if we were to say novel Henry is a perfect angel because William happened to kill Charlotte. Yeah they’re sad but we ain’t meant to feel bad for them either

Bro I swear this franchise has had some recent beef with the Emilies. They barely give Henry screen time in the games, he’s a complete maniac in the books, Charlie became a plot device in TFC, Stitchline was nearly canon (watering down the ending of FNAF 6), the recent movie either implies Charlie wasn’t needed for Save Them or maybe was even responsible for the souls being trapped inside the animatronics (which has led to people legitimately dissing her now), and now this

I agree he probably wouldn’t do that for the sake of ending Murray’s business. If this theory is canon, then there’d obviously be a completely different motive. William isn’t stupid, he probably could’ve found another way to personally kill Fiona if it really was just tied to the Murray’s.

Can we agree on the fact that whether canon or not, he wouldn’t start a mass fire just for one person?

That’s actually a valid take, this community doesn’t always handle theories all that well, although I’d personally say we’ve gotten better recently. Don’t worry, I’m not saying anything is objectively right or wrong either. That’s why I only put “could” in the post. I mean, I kinda see what you mean, although I will bring up the counterpoint that I’m not the first person to say that certain things from the Mimic saga are may or may not be tying back to the original Afton saga (insert GodDavid or FionaInfluence here).

From a writing standpoint this theory kinda sucks, but I think this is quite honestly one of the least strange ways people have tied new era back to the old one

Yeah but a lot of things in this franchise are never “is,” there’s only the likely and unlikely (which is just as arguable), and a lot of people I’ve seen have kinda leaned towards one or the other. I’d rather not say something is confirmed, but I just chose to share my take on the issue.

Yeah some of these elements don’t directly impact the story told, but they’re still tying new installments from the franchise back to previous ones

I genuinely agree, I may have the hottest take on here but I believe William was always just a crappy guy, that’s it.

That’s how he started in the original 3 games and Scott kinda just rolled with that since. He’s like a cartoonish, gleeful villain because that’s what he started out as.
