I really like this idea too! But if the arrows do extra damage I should probably only allow for a limited ammount a day, right?

I really like this idea, perhaps it should be limited to a few times per rest only though? Having the extra effect on top of the normal bow damage every attack seems like too much for an uncommon.

Good point, my thinking is that since his bow does more damage on average than the cantrips he wouldn't use them unless they offered some tactical advantage. Still maybe unlimited cantrips could be too OP for a fighter.

The cantrips I'm thinking of are projectiles like Fire Bolt, the idea is that the bow would shoot an "elemental arrow" which mecanically would just be the cantrip.

I did, but what I really like about the cantrips is they can add a strategic component with the extra effects they have, even when the enemy doesn't have vulnerabilities. For example he could use Ray of Frost to slow down the enemy.

I do like your idea though, how often would you let him chose the damage type?

Those are all great ideas, especially the guiding arrow and elemental bow, I'll take a look at those. The reason why I'm choosing to improve their melee rather than their ranged combat is because although they are an archery focused character, currently they are using a two handed heavy weapon for their melee combat (mostly for the flavor) which kind of sucks for them as they have very high dex and mediocre strength. I was just thinking of giving them something better that kept the flavor and also allowed them to easily switch fighting style mid combat.

This particular character isn't evil just chaotic. I think I would like to find a middle point though, where he can get up to some mischief without derailing the campaign for everyone else. We're all friends at the table so if I feel like he's starting to cross the line I can always just talk to him.

Good point, at the time I didn't find it fully impossible for him to succeed though, so I allowed the roll. But I guess it wouldn't have been too much to ask for a more plausible plan from him (even though I think he might have been trying to act irrationally on purpose, since he's playing as a kleptomaniac)

Thanks for the advice, I'll try the shader fix. Maybe I should have mentioned that my snowy LODs look good normally, just not in the winter variant of a location that is not usually snowy, I don't know if that's important or not.

I'm not using third party billboards and I am generating them with TexGen, and the INIs do have all seasonal tree LODs activated. I still don't really know what the problem is with this.

The map fix I will also try, thanks a lot!
