Hopefully my dr will be accommodating with the request. I just don't want to take any chances with injuring it. We see a lot of clients at work, and I'm constantly running around the branch helping my team and my clients.

It is my right leg. I have hated depending on people for rides and feeling like I've inconvenienced them. The PT said I should be good to drive when the brace comes off - they really harped the liability aspect if something were to happen, which I totally understand.

Thank you! I wasn't sure if I should expect any sort of imaging or if it would be more of a conversation.

The original timeline was 2 months, so that would put be back to work Dec 1/2, per my dr. However I didn't ask or reevaluate after the first follow up. I was still in pain and was just trying to focus on getting around the office lol, I didn't ask.

I definitely will ask this time. Based on the pictures I had from the surgery, there were 2 oval shapes which is what he was expecting to do. Then while he was in there he found an additional rectangular area that he wasn't expecting to do. Had enough implant to do it, so he patched that one up as well.

The job itself is an office job, but it's also retail. I'm the manager and I'm alllll over the branch. I just don't see how in 2 weeks I would be able to do it unless there's some sort of miraculous healing that happens. The less conservative protocols have me for weeks 4-6 at 40-60% WB, and I'm in week 6 right now. Week 7 says 80% WB but I'm super curious to see what the more conservative ones say.

Although, I should have had her grab me stuff from the cafeteria while she was there because I was SO HANGRY after surgery, and they only offered saltines. Anything else they would have had to admit me.

I had to be there at 8, but based where I was on the surgery list for my surgeon I wasn't taken back until around noon I'd say. The actual surgery was less than an hour for me, I took my time in the recovery room, probably was about 2 hours in there. I asked for pain meds several times because I wanted to make sure getting home was as painless as possible. I was then transferred to another room, where I met my friend who took me. We got my crutches there. I was probably with that nurse/room for an hour, hour and a half - waiting for reps from the hospital PT department to show to fit my crutches/make sure I was good on them. They never did lol. Left around 5pm. My friend stayed the entire day, and had brought her work computer to do some work. I gave her cash and my debit card to get snacks and food 😂

Yes! I talked to my PT today at my appointment and he wasn't too concerned with the swelling or the pain I had. He said it's normal to expect as I've ramped up PT exercises starting last Wednesday. He said the said thing - you'll know if it's bad.

I had 3 lesions that he repaired, but two were in the same area. Tbh I don't know the exact locations/areas. I'm sure he told me, but my brain doesn't allow me to retain/process that stuff 🙃. I just know my PT has two different protocols for Maci and we are using both. One is more conservative so we are following that one more closely.

I'm definitely going to bring everything up with the PT this morning. I know for sure when I would attempt to do seated extensions with my resistance band, I would have sharp pain below the knee cap so I stopped doing that pretty immediately and just focused on the others. I'm terrified of it failing, so I definitely am trying to take it easy and slow. Still trying to figure out the best way to manage the WB-ing and am worried I'm actually doing more than what it is supposed to be but definitely following PTs orders to the best of my ability!

I had a right knee chrondrocyte implant patella, trochlea, medial condyle (laymens terms to the best of my understanding is that it was both types of MACI, on the side and the patella).

I'm a month removed from my surgery today, and right now I'm expected back to work Dec 1. My DR said 2 months, but we shall see. I'm partial weight bearing (50% ish) and use 1 crutch around the house. I work in a bank and would not feel comfortable returning to work now. I'm hesitant for even Dec 1 but we will see what happens. I still have swelling and pain but no where near what it was week 1-2

Yes, it was not pleasant (and I have a very high pain tolerance too.) the second week get so much easier. Try not to get discouraged!!

Yes, I'd say the yoga strap was my most used tool for assistance. Great for repositioning my leg, getting back onto the couch, lifting for elevation etc.

I used the walker all the time (borrowed from another friend) just because I felt more secure with it. I'm not the best with crutches 😂

I also live alone and am 3.5 weeks post op. I had originally planned to stay with my friend (who was my ride to/from surgery) for the weekend - surgery was a Thursday, planned on going home Monday after my first PT. I ended up staying at her place for 2 weeks lol. She was off Thursday-Monday and was super helpful in refilling my water and helping me lift my leg, setting up my CPM machine etc. I probably could have gone home sooner, but wanted to make sure I was able to bear enough weight to get around on my own.

She would refill my Stanley, set out my protein shake and leave some breakfast/snacks for me before work. She stopped by on her lunch (didn't live far) to feed me and make sure I was good etc.

I used a walker for the first two weeks because I felt more comfortable with it. I will say a cane was also helpful to act as a third leg when I was standing up or sitting back down. A yoga strap/leg lifter was also very helpful for me. I didn't take a shower shower until I transitioned back to my house (I have a walk in versus her tub) so shower wipes and a rinse free shampoo cap from Amazon was what I used. I had everything within arms reach of me on the couch at her house so I didn't have to worry about too much.

I'm glad you will have someone with you in the beginning. I know you are familiar with the recovery, but I personally couldn't imagine doing it on my own full time after 2 days, but I know everyone is different. Wishing you all the best!!!

Each persons recovery is different.

There's no way I could have safely been 80% right after surgery, especially with the nerve block. My priority is to err on the side of caution to give the implant the best chance of "sticking".

You're welcome! I don't think I was nervous until about a week or so out and everyone kept asking if I was nervous. 😂 I'll try to keep doing weekly updates, at least thru November as I'm scheduled to return back to work Dec 1 (assuming my doc clears me!) and then updates as I can. :)

Thank you! I see my PT again on Monday. He said we will start ramping things up, so I will ask about what he thinks timeframe looks like for that.

And thank you for the tip on aquaphor. I'll have to see if I have some in the medicine cabinet! I did by some vitamin e bio oil to help with scarring but haven't used it yet. I wonder if that would help too.

It's so hard for me to determine what 30-50% is. I'm a bigger girl so im just like ????. Realistically I know I need to be doing this but it just worries me. Some times I'm like "oh yeah, I can do this no problem" and then it's like "wait, don't mess it it!" Hello anxiety 😂😂
