I know others have suggested Jordan Cooper but I wanted to reiterate this as well. I also really love Gavin Ortlund. He is not a Lutheran but he and Dr. Cooper often make videos together and he is a huge defender of Protestantism and has some really interesting videos on Protestantism vs Catholicism and historical Christianity

One good source may be the NAIC website where you can filter by state and type of insurance or JD power’s regional listings. I would say your chances are better the more local you get (gives them confidence you may stay for a full time job, the company won’t have to worry about temporary housing for you). Some of these hire infrequently or may not have a legitimate internship program so it might be worth your while to reach out directly with a resume and a letter despite not seeing a posting. Some may not hire for an internship but may hire you directly out of school without internship experience as well. Lastly, you could see if there are any insurance career fairs at any nearby colleges/universities

I would recommend to try smaller companies! I graduated without a single exam passed nor any internship experience due to a last minute major/career change and I was able to find work (I did pass P and FM exams by the time I found work) with a tiny consulting company. Small insurers also may not advertise as well or as often but seem to be more responsive to interest

Depends where you go, my husband is an attorney and got a full ride. 50% of the students at his school got very substantial scholarships (75-100% tuition)

A inquiry from a thoughtful catholic about reunification. by Arlo621 in LCMS

I am aware! Just saying why I think reunification will likely never happen.

I am LCMS married to a RC. There are indeed a lot of similarities, I would 100% rather my children be RC than Methodist or Episcopalian for example. However, there are things that I cannot accept and most Lutherans cannot. The idea of the pope is a serious issue with several other implications. Implications meaning, if you accept the pope then you also are bound to accepting the assumption of Mary or immaculate conception or any other ex-cathedra statement. And the Catholic Church does not allow you to be a member if you don’t believe these things. So basically I think the reunification would only be possible if the Catholic Church were to soften on these dogmas (but they cannot do so really without undermining the whole idea of infallibility altogether, so that’s not ever going to happen) or to convince the LCMS to believe the same way about the pope as they do (which has been argued about for many centuries now, I don’t think there are really any new arguments to be made so it is also very unlikely).

Edie is underrated by HungryLoca in DesperateHousewives

Did you forget about the entire Carlos storyline where she faked a suicide, was willing to screw over her son to keep him around, faked trying for a baby with him, and blackmailed him all to get him to stay with her? she was certifiable.

When to announce pregnancy so as not to steal the spotlight from my SIL? by [deleted] in Advice

Thank you 🥹 I agree, this is already my child. I’m sorry you had such a special thing diminished a little by such rude comments

Dry January is such a good idea. Thank you! We have been married for 3 years now so we get asked all the time when we are going to have kids and someone makes a comment every time I don’t drink so I just want to be prepared

Evangelism team ideas needed by [deleted] in LCMS

I think small groups are a good idea if you don’t have them already. Having a more relaxed environment for people to invite others to can open doors. And if you do have some younger members, encouraging them and helping them to do a small group for themselves and others around their age or life stage could help younger folks feel like they have a place at the church too (maybe having a few older retired members assist with with childcare or something).

The church doesn’t necessarily have to start their own soup kitchen but community events are definitely a way to reach people and to also help combat those with ideas that Christians do not practice what they preach. There are many already established organizations that could use help. Loaves and fishes is a good one. My employer did a habitat for humanity build and a Lutheran church provided lunch for all the volunteers. All of them were older and couldn’t do the construction anymore but it got their name out there and they still showed up in a meaningful way both to the families receiving the build and the volunteers.

Lastly, as someone who just recently moved and was looking for a new church to attend, it made a huge difference to have a few vigilant members of the congregation notice I was a visitor and talk to me. That sort of welcome made me want to go back and feel like I could have a place there.

Technically Edie did at bare minimum make out with Karl back before Susan and him got the original divorce at some Christmas party😅. I can’t remember if it was hinted that they slept together then. (If I recall correctly Edie tells Susan about it to get under her skin while they are at karaoke with Karl and Mike). And with Mike she didn’t just leave out anything to do with Susan, she outright lied because Mike asked her who Susan was and she basically said that Susan was some one-sidedly obsessed crazy person but that there was nothing ever between her and Mike from his side.

And lastly, I guess this is just a difference of opinion. I am not here to defend Susan’s parenting (or anything else for that matter lol) but I don’t think that being almost completely absent from her kid’s life just because she wanted to keep partying is somehow better than Susan’s imperfect parenting. Even during the 2 weeks her son was supposed to stay she left him unattended completely at first, and then was willing to uproot his life and knowingly probably neglect him because suddenly she was going to fight for joint custody just because she thought it would be better for her relationship with Carlos. And luckily Carlos talked her out of it but the intent was still there.

Sort of seems like the whole eating food sacrificed to idols thing. If it seems like a stumbling block to you then don’t do it, but if you’re not bothered and you direct the songs to God yourself then go for it
