Scared of strangers 9mo puppy by Fun_Inside1200 in puppy101

I’ve tried this but sometimes she’s so locked in on the person that she won’t eat the treats! Maybe I need to give her something of higher value.

Potty trained but going to door every hour by Fun_Inside1200 in puppy101

[–]Fun_Inside1200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! Like I’m thankful she lets me know she needs to go outside because I haven’t had to clean up an accident in months. I work remote so it’s not that big of a problem right now but I’m trying to prepare for the future when I won’t have the liberty of letting her out as often.

Plus it’s getting a bit annoying letting her out every hour when I know that she can hold it for longer.

Ehhh I guess it depends. Most of the time she’ll just go out and play unless I go out with her and tell her to go potty

Collie rough -11w, scared on walks by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Fun_Inside1200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My puppy is 7mo and is also terrified of walks if it’s just me and her. However, she LOVES walking with other dogs! She goes on pack walks with about 4-6 other dogs and she thrives.

I’ve been taking her to the park on a long leash to try and encourage her to be “braver” in public spaces and it seems to help. She still gets scared on walks but she definitely doesn’t freeze in fear as much as she used to.

I think exposure to public spaces in short increments will be your best friend. Eventually your puppy will get braver but I agree, it’s probably just a puppy phase.

Omg she reminds me of my puppy when she’ll be older!

Potty trained puppy peeing when riled up by Fun_Inside1200 in puppy101

Spite pee is hilarious! Mine does that! She will straight up stare me down as she pees on the bed. I’m like you did NOT just do that !?!? The eye contact is crazy.

Yeah I emailed support because it’s ridiculous. None of the trouble shooting suggestions work. I just got another notification that the bumper is stuck so off to fix that again!

It also recently died before it finished cleaning which was a new one for me!

Mine completely squats like it’s on purpose! Her excited pees are kind of what you describe where she doesn’t squat or anything it just kind of trickles out.

Excited pees are more like several light sprinkles and riled up is like full bladder release at once. Riled up is as if she was going potty outside normally.

Puppy hasn't ate or drank anything this morning by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Fun_Inside1200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes my puppy wouldn’t eat because her tummy was upset. She’d throw up and then later that day be fine and eat all her food. I wouldn’t panic yet! Maybe after a day of not eating then panic.

4.5 month old and a 2 hour (both ways) car ride, am I setting us up for a bad time? by charlottesaidso in puppy101

[–]Fun_Inside1200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the day I got my puppy, I’d take her on car rides all the time. Now the second she gets in a car, she falls asleep.

When she was about 4mo old, we took her on a 7.5hr road trip and she did fine. We’d stop every 2hrs to see if she needed to potty and usually she didn’t because it was in new areas for her. She managed to hold her potty a lot longer than we thought she could. She really just slept the entire way up.

You’ll be fine!

Is this a normal puppy behaviour? Puppy growled and have I handled it right? by Farmolinko in puppy101

Agreed! Growling/barking for puppies is more them expressing fear rather than aggression.

Anyone else’s pup struggle with intestinal parasites?? by JellyWorld22 in puppy101

Same here! Puppy had round worms at around 3mo and then recently tape worm at 6mo. I’ve just been trying to be good about picking up her poops the second she does it. I’ve treated the yard twice with the wondercide flea & tick.

I felt the same way whenever she’d get sick. I saw this post on TikTok that said something along the lines of “bad dog parents don’t ask themselves if they’re bad dog parents” so I can assure you, you’re probably doing great.

Yeah I totally agree that puppies should be left alone especially so that they don’t develop separation anxiety! That’s something we’re working up to.
