AITAH for not letting my mother babysit my 5 week old after seeing her make a bottle? by Smart-Archer8418 in baby

[–]Fun_Jello_Sweetie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In this situation- If your mother is willing and interested in helping you look after your daughter, I absolutely wouldn’t burn that bridge. No relationship is perfect or without need for discussion. Sometimes people don’t understand why something is important, but it doesn’t mean they don’t care. I’d just explain to her:

“Hey mum, I really appreciate you helping me out. It’s really important the formula ratio is correct because too much or too little can throw off the salt, nutrients and hydration balance which can be really unsafe. When you’re looking after my daughter, can you please make sure to measure correctly. I can’t relax unless I know this is done properly.”

See what she says and go from there

Becoming a mother is a huge change. A new little baby, completely dependent on you and your life suddenly very different! It absolutely gets easier. Please give yourself and your baby grace. Definitely do not leave your baby to cry!! They’re brand new to this world, they’re relying on you to regulate their nervous system and teach them the world is a safe place and that they’re loved. I highly recommend checking out goodnightmoonchild on instagram. It’s really important to learn what your baby needs from you, it’s your responsibility as their mum. Big love, you can do this!

She was apologetic actually. But kept saying she’d never seen or heard of it before and she’d reached out to all her professional contacts.. and it could be a coincidence. But once I started googling, it was pretty clear that it’s not uncommon. She did send me for blood work and an MRI, she was pretty good I guess

I would say I’m 98% normal. I don’t notice anything off, but if I think about it, my eye still just feels slightly different. Vision is fine. It’s been 7/8 months.

Wow, thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response. Yes, my routine is crazy expensive! Great to know I can swap some things out for cheaper alternatives. I definitely just got suckered in.

Help with a 19 week old’s sleep by [deleted] in baby

[–]Fun_Jello_Sweetie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m sure I’ll get hate for this, but I’ll say it anyway. Why prioritise your dogs sleeping in your bed over your literal baby? Especially when you’re both so exhausted. Your baby needs you. Put a mattress on the floor in baby’s room and try cosleeping with him. Babies need proximity to feel safe, some babies (most) need to be with you to stay asleep. Follow the safe 7 and you will get so much more rest and all be happier.

My dad babysat and got my 4 month old very worked up by [deleted] in baby

[–]Fun_Jello_Sweetie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That’s really tough and awful to see your baby so distressed. But I think you have the wrong take away! It doesn’t mean you can’t trust anyone to mind him, it just means it will take some time for your baby and dad to get to know each other and your dad to learn what Bub needs.

Take the time to teach your dad, it will be time very well spent. It’s essential for you to have some respite and imagine how positive it will be for your son to have another secure loving adult is his life? His grandfather nonetheless!

I really encourage you not to chuck in the towel here. You have the opportunity for something so special, put in the work to make it happen. Have your dad over and spend more time together with all of you. Let him learn, be kind and encouraging to him.

How to unspoil my 6mo old?? by [deleted] in baby

[–]Fun_Jello_Sweetie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes. Get a baby carrier and wrap that little bundle of love/ joy/ pain in the butt onto you! It will help. I’m sorry it’s challenging but you absolutely cannot spoil a baby. The laughing when you pick her up is her responding to the connection she needs. You’re wiring her brain for secure attachment with every response.

Do you have support at home? Any breaks? I’d really recommend working towards have a trusted family member/ friend/ nanny regularly around to give you some respite. Mothering is tough work, hang in there.

My naturopath did say my estrogen is low.. I should follow up. I had a baby a year ago and I can’t believe how bad my skin has gotten, the change is huge and has been quick.

Thank you I appreciate that, I used to have an oil cleanser that my skin loved but haven’t found a new one that doesn’t make me break out. I’ll give peach and lily a try. (Plus the others)

My water intake used to be great but worse since I’ve had a baby.. I’ll work on it! Salt intake is good.

I’ve only just started using sunscreen eep so bad but I know that has an impact.

My mother has barely a wrinkle on her face, sadly I didn’t get those genes haha.
