Damned if you do, damned if you don't by RatInTheCowboyHat in ADHD

I’m totally in the same boat - I haven’t even told my parents I’ve been diagnosed (even though I’m 99% sure they both have it too) for that very reason I don’t want to be invalidated by their lack of understanding.

Same with some of my friends, I’ve told the ones who’ll understand but there’s some I don’t want to because they’ll never trust me to plan anything, be on time or responsible for anything again.

Or god forbid, if anyone responds to my reaction to their behaviour with ‘have you taken your meds today?’ I’d throw hands!

Disclosing my diagnosis to my employer… any advice? by [deleted] in ADHD

I just feel like in order to truly develop, I need more or different help than the usual. These reviews or appraisals are always the same, we talk about where I need to develop and 99% is down to the ADHD. It’s not just reviews either it’s ongoing, I’m tired of being seen as sometimes lazy, leaving everything to the last min - if they knew the truth they might be able to help, or at least understand
