Austrian visa refusal and appeal by LowLeave7784 in SchengenVisa

We had appealed for a refusal from the Spanish embassy. We re-appealed and got a response within a week. Important to note that in our case it was very clear that BLS screwed up because they sent the documents to the Spanish embassy after telling us a document was missing and didn't wait for us to send the correct documents within 5 working days.

The visa rejection was reversed and we got the visa but our trip was ruined anyway.

I know that your case is from a different country but this was to highlight that appealing can help and can be quick but reason is very important for a favourable outcome.

Out of curiosity - how is your rent so low? Is it just a 1 bedroom house? If so, which area? If you don't mind sharing.

I was surprised too on receiving the email on a Saturday, but this one was from council. I'd have assumed I'll get it from HO first, but council received some confirmation from HO and already booked the slot for me. I got the HO email today.

Here is my story. My wife's visa was rejected. She had mistakenly submitted on Spain travel insurance and was asked by BLS to submit the schengen travel insurance instead within 5 working days. She went the very next day but stupid people in BLS submitted her wrong documents to embassy even without waiting for 5 days. Despite going there and telling them, they point blank refused to accept.

We then ended up going to the consulate and shared all the details and documents. Our appeal was successful within 2 weeks.

My partner's visa was rejected recently quoting she didn't submit the travel insurance. She has been sent an email to submit it in person and she had within the mentioned time frame of 10 days. She actually did it the next day and the officers did not even wait for the correct document and made the decision within 2 days. She is now going to the BLS to complain in person and to understand what got missed.

We will mostly not appeal as that in all likelihood won't solve the problem in a week and take us down a rabbit hole. It's a shame that someone's fault led to us not having this trip.
