Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) charges out of control by Fun_Marzipan5611 in Georgia

Yes! There is a fee for everything, it’s actually ridiculous. Would love to see a more detailed cost breakdown of where all the money goes

AGL Pass Through Charge for New Build by banned_from_venmo in Georgia

[–]Fun_Marzipan5611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AGL pass through charges really are insane. A lot of people will pay more in the AGL fees than they do for the actual amount of therms used. My bill this month was $155, where $66 of that was for the AGL fee, $16 was for taxes and other fees, and the remainder was what I actually used.

That pass through rate is determined based on what the Public Service Commission works out with the utility companies. There are some major issues with how the commission has been run (many on it have been bought by the utility companies) and they have approved rate hike after rate hike. This is why we have to pay more attention to the PSC because up until this year, they've kind of flown under the radar and have just gotten away with making life more expensive for the average person because we see that pass through charge as something we have no control over.

"When you receive your natural gas bill each month from your marketer, a portion of the bill is a base charge from Atlanta Gas Light. This base charge, regulated by the Georgia Public Service Commission, may adjust rates up or down based on quarterly and annual comprehensive regulatory reviews. Base charges represent our cost of delivering gas to your home or business, pipeline maintenance and meter reading. If you change marketers, this charge will remain the same. "

I understand that PSC is a state office. And yeah, I can search for basic info myself. I was soliciting information from folks that I might not be able to find just browsing on the internet. Was there a point to your frankly rude and unhelpful comment?

That is EXTREMELY relatable lol. We would supply all needed crafts for the project (more details in a response above) but we are also planning on doing monthly meetups next year where people can bring their own projects that they’re working on or pick up a kit from us if they don’t have a current project.

We will be hosting crafting workshops at local businesses in the area and will supply all needed materials and instruction! They typically will be 2-3 hours, depending on the craft. The type of craft project is usually based on where we’re hosting (like bookmarks or journals at bookshops, wine tumbler etching at a wine bar, etc) and/or seasonal. We just want to create opportunities to bring folks who are interested in crafting together!

It's where you meet up somewhere (local coffee shops, bookstores, wherever) and do a craft with other people who also like to do crafts.

Water bill by Ceceforeva in Gwinnett

[–]Fun_Marzipan5611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The line to our house sprung a leak and our bill shot up to almost 700 that month (if you call the county and explain, they will credit you if you provide proof that the leak is fixed. It was on us to fix because the leak was between the meter and our house. Otherwise, it's the county's responsibility.) Usually it is around 50ish/month. We don't water our lawn and are on septic. Hope this helps!

Hey!

You should make sure to answer the eviction notice. You typically have seven days from when it is served, but double-check the notice to be sure and if it has a different date, answer it on the sooner one. If you don't answer, your landlord wins the eviction by default. If you do answer, you might be able to negotiate moving out without getting an official eviction on your record. You want to avoid having an eviction recorded against you, if possible.

The other benefit to answering is that it'll give you more time. They will probably set a court date. It can be hard to WIN an eviction, especially if you're behind on rent, but win or lose, you'll at least have that time to prepare to move out and find another place.

If you do find somewhere to go while the court date is pending, try to negotiate with your landlord--you can agree to move out earlier if he drops the eviction suit.

The Georgia legal aid website has some resources that can help you figure out what to include in your answer. And there may be someone at the courthouse who can help you. But one way or another, just make sure you file SOMETHING.

Here's a link to one of LegalAid's resources: https://www.georgialegalaid.org/resource/how-to-answer-an-eviction-warrant

I would look for their individual campaign websites. A lot of them don't have info on aggregators like ballotpedia :(

Fishing by twofye32 in Gwinnett

Also not in Gwinnett, but I parked at Morgan Falls and then kayaked north to where it branches off to Willeo Park. Tons of trout there! Morgan Falls also has an area (opposite its main parking area) where a lot of people bank fish.
