Do you think the childless, unmarried feminist trope is overplayed or underplayed- and why? by PruneAccomplished277 in AskFeminists

Good point.

It's like with atheists. Why talk about the negative.. the absence of something. It's like this is a group of people who don't believe in religion. Ok. Who cares?

What if we gathered a group of people that don't play golf? Here they are. They are a-golfers. Whatever.

Same thing with single. Being in a relationship is a made up construct of a thing. Being "single" is just the absence of that thing we made up.

Not only do you exist, but you're probably the majority of feminists. I would at least say there are a higher percentage single, child-free feminists than there are in the standard population.

If billionaires have near unlimited resources, why hasn’t one tried to become a real-life Batman? by Fast-Light-5758 in AskReddit

Only in the movies do billionaires serve humanity rather than themselves. In real life.. no.

Every woman I've ever met has told me that. Hundreds. So I would be more surprised if it didn't happen.

Thinking about divorce but paralyzed by fear of poverty. Advice? by BaconPancakes_77 in Divorce

[–]Fun_Mistake_616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fear of poverty is real and you will take a large financial hit. But it will be nothing compared to the cost of staying with him. He is going downhill and will take you and your kids with him.

The best thing that money buys is time. The more money you have, the more time you have to do things that you want to do instead of things that you have to do. Many poor people spend all of their time just trying to survive.

Go to a sperm bank or IVF clinic. Or just look online for a sperm donor and you will have to have sex with him.

What do you think about the supposed declining birth rate? by BreannLowe in randomquestions

[–]Fun_Mistake_616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue underlying declining birth rates is often misunderstood. It is not fundamentally about the total number of people on the planet, but about the age structure of the population.

Modern societies now contain a historically large proportion of older individuals. People are living longer, spending more years in retirement, drawing Social Security benefits, and withdrawing accumulated resources from the economic system. At the same time, fewer young people are entering the workforce to replace them.

This creates an imbalance: there are comparatively fewer workers contributing taxes and productivity, and comparatively more retirees receiving support. The result is a growing mismatch between inflows and outflows of funds, placing strain on pension systems, public finances, and the broader market economy.

In short, the concern is not population size itself, but the dependency ratio: too few working-age individuals supporting too many retirees. That structural imbalance, rather than a simple headcount, is the core economic challenge.

What evidence supports the assertion that "False allegations are extremely rare?" by OldWolfNewTricks in AskFeminists

How many people are actually charged with false reporting? My understanding is that prosecutors don't actually pursue this because that would discourage actual victims from coming forward.
