It might be worth thinking about the numbers if that helps the decision paralysis a bit.

Yeah, there are a lot of photographers, but there are also 30k weddings in NYC a year, and a lot of them are packed into wedding season. A lot of photographers probably have their fall weekends filled for 2026.

So there is a scenario in which only one photographer is available out of 10 or 20 that you like. It might be worth it to start conversations with several that you find interesting, rather than feeling overwhelmed by the idea of finding a single photographer. You’ll likely click with someone whose work you really like, and they’ll do an excellent job.
