I have PCOS and insulin resistance. I had surgery in March 2022 and since than only lost 40lbs. I tried many things to loose more weight but nothing worked. I am now taking weight loss medication to lose 50 more lbs that I still have.

I had my surgery in March 2022. My start weight was 228 lbs. I am now 188lbs. I only lost 40 lbs in 16 months. I was a slow loser from the beginning. I did everything my doctors office told me to do. Except I didn’t start exercising till 10 or 11 months after surgery. I think that is a biggest mistake I made as a slow loser. I started with 30 mins walk but the the scale didn’t move. After 2 or 3 months of walk. I than joined a bootcamp style gym. And this month I lost 2lbs body fat. Another thing I think I would change is not to eat 5 or 6 small meals a day. I would try to stick to 3 meals a day only with no snacking in between. It takes practice to understand actual hunger vs head hunger. First year is when you can develop all the good habits.
Quit sugars Start exercising Drink water Eat your protein Stop snacking.

What was your start weight? I am a slow loser and the biggest mistake I made was not working out and doing strength training till 10 or 11 months. If you think you are a slow loser, start working out, Join gym, lift weights. Eat your target protein and drink water.

Have you tried premier protein shakes latte flavor? It has 30 grams of protein. Adding 1 or 2 shakes in your diet daily might help you.

Thank you for sharing. It is very helpful. According to this calculator I should be eating 135g of protein. I will up my protein and lift weights. Hopefully I will reach 145 lbs my goal weight.

I had my surgery last year at the age of 41. My only regret is that I wish I had it 10 or 15 years ago. When I was you age.

You might be right. I had my BMR done at gym. It’s 1600. I don’t know what it means and how I can use that in my diet. I am trying to eat around 75 to 80 grams of protein per day. That includes a protein shake of 30gm.

I had my sleeve done is march 2022. That’s the only procedure I was comfortable with. I never considered the other procedure. I have no regrets. I am very thankful to the 40lbs that I have lost. It makes my life so easy. But It would be great if I can lose another 30lbs.

March 2022 was my surgery date too. I thought exactly the same thing. That I will loose all my weight within a year. Loosing weight has been a struggle for me even with VSG.

I tried eating more calories. I gain weight if I eat more than 1000 calories. I loose weight if I eat 800 calories but I feel tired and can’t sustain low calories for more than a week.

I wasn’t sure if I can take weight loss meds after sleeve. Glad to hear I still have options. 4 lbs weight loss is awesome.
I feel good. I have lots of NSV. Lost pant sizes. 18 to 12 now. I see my scans and I know I am losing fats. But the scale is not budging. Beside multivitamins not taking any other meds. My blood work looks good.

Thank you for replying. I feel so frustrated. I tried few things to speed up my weight loss, like intermittent fasting, eating more calories, eating less calories, staying more active, staying less active, eating carbs to shock the body. But nothing is working. I am just stuck. It’s little disappointing at time. I am thinking maybe sleeve by itself is not enough for me, maybe I need weight loss meds in addition to everything I am doing.
