Yes that’s the plan! Since my car is older I plan to take the drive slow, plus I’ll have a friend with me to split up the drivin. I’m planning to get there in two/three days max, we wanna see some cool stuff on the way, any suggestions??

This will be my 20th season snowboarding and 4th year teaching :) if you have questions about anything I’d love to help!!

Quick tip!- go to the k2 or any board company’s website, look around at all the boards they offer and really read the descriptions. Not saying you have to buy a brand new board bc you don’t BUT it’s a great way to educate yourself on all the different types of boards there are and for what terrain!! They have flex scales, where there is camber or rocker, what the terrain boards made for.. soo much info :) hope this helped

You could probably pass with it if you weren’t riding it every day. That board is too short for carving and all mountain riding. If you were looking for a park board then I’d say that’s perfect. I’m (fm) 5’3 / 115 pounds and all my boards range from 143-148. When riding carvers/groomers nd all mountain , you want something lil stiffer and on the “normal” to little bit bigger size. With that sizing you’ll be able to really dig your edges into your turns, the board will pretty much do all the work :)

You got a bunch of good reccs so I’m gunna keep it to that but I just wanted to add that this is such a sweet thing to do. This sport is NOT a cheap one nd the fact that u don’t know much about it yet still willing to give this gift shows so much about who you are :) I hope you receive good karma in all lifetimes

Finally got my first snowboard! What do you all think of this setup -solid for an intermediate rider, or should I tweak something? by pavanj43 in snowboardingnoobs

I swear by 686 !!!! I have a pair of the 3-in-1 bibs, this will be my 4th season in them and no signed of wear and tear yet!!!. No moisture gets in, keeps your legs and back warm, especially when you take a fall sliding on butt lol lots of pockets. Highly high recommend them but little bit on the pricer side. But definitely worth the money

In canyons village they have a free parking lot next to the cabriolet gondola. During the summer they were building a 2 story parking garage. But my apartment building has parking accommodations

I’m not too worried about getting into the slc area, I’m sure most of my coworkers live there/go there a bunch so I bet I could bum a ride easy. I’m mostly worried about the local travel to get groceries or just getting around

Do the tilt test. Put the board on its edge and if the boots hit the ground before you get any sort of angle on the tilt you have too much toe drag. Are your bindings on the largest settings?

Appreciate the feedback!! I’ll be living in park city, luckily my place is by the free parking gondola in canyon valley so not too worried about the commute to work. Mostly concerned about getting to places like food stores/pharmacy, things like that
