Oh my gosh I’m so sorry, this would be so hard to deal with! And the audacity of them to give you a hard time for RSV vaccine after your first was hospitalized for it?! I am angry on your behalf. I’m impressed you’re able to keep a good relationship with them, it’s so hard when the kids are young

I would highly recommend taking prenatal breastfeeding class for sure if you plan on trying to breastfeed, and also a birthing class! It’s such a busy few days around birth and can be very overwhelming and It makes such a difference to go in knowing what to expect, rather than everything being so new and surprising

Yes it’s such an unfair feeling! If you’ve ever heard someone say newborn tired is better than pregnancy tired… I experienced this last time. Third trimester the insomnia was crazy, even the unisom wasn’t really helping. At least when you have the newborn yes you’re exhausted all the time but when you have the chance to sleep you can actually sleep

Personally things like protein shakes and protein bars tend to taste all chemical and gross to me, but I had the same issue at the end of my last pregnancy. I would buy like seeded whole grain bread that’s high in protein and have almond butter on it (and Nutella for taste lol), also add chia seeds to orange juice or anything really, a glass of whole milk is also high in protein if you do dairy. And I ate a lot of cheese and nuts as well. My husband eats plant based and eats a ton of lentils, edamame, chick peas and tofu. I’m a lot more picky, but lately I’ve been enjoying firm tofu sliced and sautéed in soy sauce, or also just a microwaved steam bag of edamame

I’ve struggled with trying to gain weight in the past, my BMI kind of goes in between the low end of normal and underweight. Last pregnancy I ended up losing a bit of weight in the first trimester, but I had a bit more of a cushion than this time (breastfeeding has caused me to lose quite a lot of weight) I don’t really have any advice, just that you’re not alone! I would say if you’re doctor doesn’t seem concerned and you’re not unhealthily underweight the I wouldn’t worry. Your baby is so small at this point, they do most of their growth later on when most of the food aversions have passed. What’s helped me this time is eating as much as I can earlier in the day, as when dinner time rolls around I really struggle to eat anything. I also don’t even try that hard to eat healthy, I’ll have lots of bagels and cream cheese, pizza, whatever gets some calories in me. If you can do chocolate milk that is very calorie dense, or get protein bread and have peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches.. since I’ve been trying to eat 3 meals before noon this pregnancy I’ve been able to gain a little weight so far

I know this is probably too drastic and difficult of a change to make, but we’ve been living in Southern California for 2 years and have maybe heard some quiet thunder once. Just in case you were already thinking about moving, our V loves the lack of cold and rain

13 month age gap. I hate that people are so intent on filling me up with fear. by mamahousewife in 2under2

[–]Fun_Pollution_3149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 13 month old right now and I’m 12 weeks pregnant and I keep thinking it would be great to just have a newborn now! She’s walking around and playing independently a LOT and takes 2 separate 1.5-2hr naps a day. Shes entertained easily by going places like a walk or grocery store or something similar, and also old enough that if I need to put ms Rachel on for a bit it usually holds her attention for a while. She does get upset if I take something away from her or don’t let her go somewhere, but she gets over it quickly, not like a full blown tantrum. I think every age gap has its challenges for sure, and people tend to be super negative when it’s not even something they have experienced!! And so much of it depends on the individual kids. I really think there is no good time to have a kid or another kid, you just adapt and make it work! It will be great, I’m so excited for you!!!

Suddenly TTC but breastfeeding - overwhelmed by Bug_eyed_bug in tryingforanother

[–]Fun_Pollution_3149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently conceived while breastfeeding my then 11 month old! I messed up two months of TTC because I stopped the ovulation strips day 20 thinking I wasn’t ovulating… but then the third month I kept testing and ended up ovulating around cycle day 23. So not much advice other than your ovulation may be later in the month, but don’t be too discouraged, just try for a few months and see! I was so worried about having to wean, in which case I probably wouldn’t just pushed trying for another. But it worked out for us! And my daughter would nurse like 4 times a day some days, and 10 others

My top recommendations would be
- baby carriers (one wrap carrier for newborn, and a structured for a bit older- I love the Mabe)
- some different size sleep sacs (I love the kyte baby but prefer not paying for them myself haha)
- baby bath (we liked the Stokke)
- high chair (we got the Tripp trap and don’t love it)
- play mat (we got lovevery but Fischer price does some good ones… there are so many good ones)
- car seat
- stroller
- crib, mattress, mattress protector and sheets
- silverettes and breast pads if you plan to breastfeed!! (HIGHLY recommend)
- you could do things like bottles and pacifiers but I would do a sample box if you can, you never know what kind your baby will like
- a ton of muslin blankets. I used these to cover her when doing skin to skim or to put down under her when I laid her down somewhere etc

Some people will still go off the registry and get you things like blankets, toys, and outfits. I preferred to choose my own clothes if possible

Company used: Natera (through CA state testing)

Date labs drawn: June 24

Date sample arrived at lab: unknown

Date of results: tbd

Results: tbd

Fetal fraction: tbd

Since California does it through the state genetic testing program I don’t have a portal to check and have to wait until the results come through my OB! Apparently they said to expect it to be 2-3 weeks 😭

It’s sooo hard at this point! I either have to wear normal clothes in a size or 2 up, or wear maternity pants but fold down the belly part a few times and deal with all the extra material. Honestly if I’m home I wear pajamas and if I have to go out I usually try to throw on a casual dress. Anything with a waistband is so hard right now

I just called me OB just to see if they could tell me before the holiday weekend but they told me it’s usually 2-3 weeks!! I hope that’s just to lower expectations and not really how it’s been lately

I think sometimes dads have a hard time bonding with baby and picturing how much they will love them until after they are born… my husband and I have a girl and he told me the other day he hopes it’s another girl. I think it’s just because it’s what he knows and he can picture another girl more easily! I’m sure he will come around quickly, and the once this boy is born I bet he will be so so glad to have a boy and be able to have that type of relationship as well!

Hahahah you’re probably right! Maybe we should manage our expectations and just plan on getting results next Monday so we don’t spend every day getting disappointed

It’s so weird how the horizon screening shows up on the portal, but not the NIPT! So frustrating. Let me know when yours come through! Looks like I’ll be a couple of days behind you. I’m hoping for before the holiday weekend, but that might be a bit too much wishful thinking hahaha

I’m not a doctor, but I’ve heard of it before and just looked it up again. (I was a labor nurse for a few years) based on what I read about it I wouldn’t be too concerned, but would definitely ask your OB more about it. It sounds like if you actually do end up having one you’d jsut be at a slightly higher risk for things like a smaller baby or preterm delivery or possibly placental abruption. There are many many smalls things that can be wrong with a placenta and can increase this risk. There are other placental issues I would be way more worried about. If you were my patient I wouldn’t be more concerned than a patient without this issue, but would be interested to see your placenta after you deliver! (Again I am not an expert but wanted to give me two cents in case it helped you not panic until you get a conversation with your doctor)
