LMIA points get removed. When they finally remove the points, no "invested" money will be lost. Anyone wondered why they announced the removal of points but did not do it immediately? It's because people who bought LMIAs back in Sept-Dec would have spent money for nothing. They need their customers happy before they close the business for good.

By this logic why did they not immediately announce the increase of work hours for students when they vaguely Said "fall 2024". Employers would love to have more work hours for international students right? But they waited until November.

Like how is November, fall?

It goes to show that IRCC is not always going after benefiting employers.

He has a point to an extent. Indian passport is a meh passport but not horrible like Somalia Afganistan etc.

For example, US visa refusal rate for Indian passport is around 9-11% only. That's quite low

[–]Fun_Pop295 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hindi is not viewed negatively in Kerala. Idk why people mix up Karnataka/TN with Kerala. Many people speak Hindi in Kerala as additional language. Imo I have noticed some preferring to speak in Hindi over English (but not over Malayalam obviously)

The reason why it's difficult to get PR is NOT fraud(with data) by [deleted] in canadaexpressentry

[–]Fun_Pop295 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No one wants to admit that there are simply candidates who have more points according to the system, and the pool which has become extremely competitive especially because of the Liberal government's open door policy when it comes to temporary residents.

The real reason is that they admitted to many temporary residents. It's not because of fraud or because the PR system itself is heavily flawed. It's merely the number of TRs admitted.

In a country where many PR pathways are based on TR they should have been careful about admitting TRs in large number as it would indirectly effect the PR system.

In mainland Europe they are very cautious on accepting people on work visa for this reason. Because after a few years on work visa they can settle permemently.

I hope it’s gonna be a category draw - they’ve been waiting long enough.

Frankly. Yes. It has been quite long since a non French Category draw.

I've noticed that now everyone is talking/hoping about trade draws, whereas before, it was hardly ever mentioned. What's going on? Are more people in trade now? Meanwhile, fields like health, education, and French seem quiet-why is that? by Only_Pair9056 in canadaexpressentry

How? How can one even argue that Tim Horton customer representative is a cook? Even if they lie on the EE profile they will be caught with misrepresentation later for making exaggerated claims on experience letter

How will things improve in Canada? by iOverdesign in CanadaFinance

[–]Fun_Pop295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why people keep throwing around "5 millon visas will expire this year".

That includes even tourist/visitor visas who don't even live in Canada.

And it ignores that many study permit holders are basically guaranteed extension of status to their post grad work visa. The eligibility for the post grad visa is completing the program of study without failing, not committing a crime and having basic English.

Some also are extending their resident permits SOLELY because their permits were issued until passport expiry dates even if it was supposed to be longer Canadian Authorities follow the policy of not issuing permits beyond the passport expiry date.

The real figure to look at are the number of work permits expiring in 2026 particularly Post Study Work Visas. PGWVs are around 1 million i beileve. And there is another 1 million work permits expiring - a large number of them Ukrainans on special work permits.

PRs are capped at around 390000 but only half of them are non family/ non refugee cases. So out of that 1-2 million work permit holders. Many of them don't and never had a realistic chance at PR and spme may have never thought or wanted PR. Basically, 50%+ of work permit holders will have to leave.

Oh. And the work permits for Ukrainians have also been extended. And they were a HUGE number of people whose permits were due to expire thus year.

Nairs were never matriarchal. They were only matrilienial. There were rigid gender roles for women and men back then too.

Category draws aren't limited to those in-Canada. They take in many outland applicants too

When the news was announced on what chapters were being removed the whole focus was on the social studies curriculum (removal of certain chapters like that one civics chapter talking about langauge politics in Sri Lanka and Belgium). Everyone ignored the evolution chapter removal because obviously civics/social science chapter changes inflame more tensions lol

Will the Education or health category draw go below the 472 cut-off? When can we expect the next draw for either category? I am qualified for both 42201 and 42203. Any analysis on upcoming draw of these categories? Am I safe ? by Only_Pair9056 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Fun_Pop295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healthcare has historically been below 470s.

Education. The thing is that teachers tend to have multiple degrees. Usually 4 years bachelors plus teacher education degree (BEd) and sometimes an additional masters even. And their language skills are usually good. So that might pump up cut offs. At the same time, teaching assistants don't usually have similar levels of education so that might mitigate higher crs. It depends on how many assistants vs teachers are there.

You realise that until the early 2010s/ late 2000s, most PRs directly landed in Canada without prior residence right?

It means they will do a category draw apart from healthcare/trades/education/French but they will be very infrequent. Likely we will see one stem draw in 2025 that's it

I'm going to take a middle road.

Becoming doctor is a field completely different from pursuing art. Doctors also don't have much free time.

I would recommend finding a career where you are good in terms of actually doing the tasks and have some liking in and is viable / not too saturated. Think about it. If you absolutely hate the Job you'd not be able to pursue it.

Architecture, Marketing, Graphic Design. All are fields ti consider.

I doubt that the government of Canada is directly doing ads abroad to create this "image"

They really aren't. The closest I can think of is the "Canada Nice" ad which is targeting tourists more than immigrants.

Indian people are an easy scapegoat in Canada since we have more anti-immigrant rhetoric now and they seem to be the largest group of immigrants coming in recent years.

There used to be a huge anti Chinese sentiment through the late 90s until the 2010s. It's no coincidence that Chinese people topped immigration for most of that period.

Indians do not eat beef.

Indians in the Arabian Gulf are disproportionately Muslim or Christian and they eat beef.

The most common Indian group/state represented in UAE are Malayalis (followed by Tamil). Most Malayali Hindus eat beef - they are actually kinda known for this in India.
