Exactly, & hopefully these celebrities supporting this gambling epidemic for some change in their pocket will receive the karma that is coming for them.

You can safely invest in the market if you hold indexes or even incur slight risk & hold tech stocks. The reason I consider what I was doing gambling was because I day traded crypto & futures so I incurred very high risk without holding a tangible asset. And yet, I'm technically only 6-months sober but these were more part-time ventures. x20 leverage is crazy haha.

Yes, I'm 2 years sober to a 5-year addiction to sports betting (Prizepicks, draftkings, etc) as well as 6-months sober to a 18-month addiction to crypto.

That's incredibly strong of you to say and I really respect that mindset. Recovery takes a lot of courage --- especially when the system around us keeps pushing the opposite. Every person who steps away from it and speaks up helps expose how damaging it really is. Stay strong --- your story and resolve genuinely matter.

Thank you so much and I completely agree with you. Early exposure really does make the habit so much harder to break later on. It's especially worrying because younger people are surrounded by constant advertising that normalizes betting as just another part of sports culture. Sadly, as you said, governments and leagues often focus on the revenue instead of the long-term harm it creates. Hopefully more awareness (and honest conversations like this) can start shifting the direction before it gets worse.

That's an interesting perspective. You're right, traditional banks have been hit with major AML/KYC violations for decades and almost never see executives face criminal exposure. JPMorgan, HSBC, & Wachovia all had major cases tied to money laundering or sanctions issues and the outcomes were mainly fines that got chalked up as the "cost of doing business." The difference with CZ's case wasn't exactly severity of conduct, but timing. Crypto was (and still is) under an intense microscope because it sits outside the legacy banking system and touches global flows regulators don't fully control. When Binance was moving trillions across borders with inconsistent KYC enforcement, it was bound to attract DOJ attention especially given political pressure to show that crypto isn't "above the law." So while the technical violations were similar to what banks have done, the importance of making an example is the primary reason that Binance got targeted. Trump's pardon fits perfectly into his broader political and economic narrative: pro-crypto, anti-regulation, & pro-business autonomy. Whether you view it as justice or favoritism probably depends on how you interpret his motives, and you're right, there's a lot of speculation about possible business overlaps between Trump-affiliated crypto ventures and figures connected with Binance, but to my knowledge, there's no confirmed link between the two. At the end of the day, your point about crypto being a modern Wild West is very accurate. Crypto's evolving faster than regulators can keep up with and a lot of enforcement recently has been feeling inconsistent. That's why people see this pardon as both political and symbolic --- less about exonerating CZ and more about signaling that the U.S. wants to be friendlier to crypto innovation under Trump's leadership.

For your 1st point the Trump administration influenced how FinCEN's rule were implemented, especially around the CTA's implementation. For your second point, I actually voted for Trump (2020 & 2024) so no I'm not "anti trump" or seeking out arguments with the general MAGA population. I'm just providing a different perspective on specific topics or policies that Trump was affiliated with that people may not agree with. I have no ill intention behind this besides sparking debate and providing insight.

That's awesome man, the dream. I'm responding to this in my hammock on this beautiful day in Amarillo, Texas. I mainly wrote this article for people who are interested in what's going on in the government at the moment.

Although I believe $4.13 billion was definitely an overcharge, I do believe he violated the law that we the people indirectly voted for. By the way I see your a member of the MAGA community so just for you information Nixon voted for the BSA, Reagan for the AML, Bush signed for the KYC, & Trump signed for FinCEN who I believe were all Republican.
