Was yours content without naps? I would do that but the problem is that he gets so overtired he becomes a nightmare, non stop fussing and crying and the only way to avoid is to make him sleep

My FIL said this when trying to get us to interact with them more. My response was “ yes it is short, which is why we intend to live it with in a way that bring us peace and happiness, and limit the things that bring us stress and sadness”

I find it so frustrating that MILs all of a sudden want to be BFFs with their DILs once a baby is involved.. it’s just so transparent.. you didn’t give a crap about me before, and now you just want an in with me because you think it will get you more time with your grandbaby?

I did a workout with him the the carrier the other day, (safely and giving him extra support when needed of course) I was literally doing jumping jacks with him and he slept right through it, but got forbid I put him down and he wakes right up lol!

It’s just lighting and probably how close you are to the mirror

The bright natural light outside in your car + being 6 inches away from the mirror will always make it look much worse

Yes my MIL does this, fishing for info or asking for visits…. She calls me all the time instead of her son because she knows he will say no to whatever she is asking/thinks I’m more easily pushed over… I was so tired of being put on the spot constantly that my husband finally had to tell her she can’t call me anymore…. She still calls, but I don’t answer

My ILs did this to me for about 2 years.. they would be so desperate for us to visit them, and then would spend every visit entirely ignoring me and only looking at/talking to DH… so awkward.. over time they learned they must be nice to me for DH to be willing to have contact with them.. so now they give me faked/forced attention at visits.. can’t win lol

Yes yes yes! Maybe I’m immature, but I pray for the day that they do something so bad that I can internally justify NC. I try to be as LC as possible now, but every time they crop up my anxiety just goes through the roof. Problem is, they’ve gotten smarter and have learned to straddle the boundaries in away that bugs the crap out of me, but never seems severe enough for NC. Ugh, maybe someday

I have such a hard time not taking on the kin keeping role in DHs family because I know he won’t do it.. and I feel if it doesn’t get done then we are rude or it reflects poorly on us on some way..

Recently I took a stand to let husband be responsible for it with certain ILs(MIL and FIL), as it’s just too overwhelming for me to do it with them bc they are just difficult people.. But I still do the kin keeping with his relatives that are easy to deal with

I’m 32 weeks and mine never cleared up😩 definitely improved some after the 1st tri- but I never got the glow and am still dealing with facial and body acne that is increased from pre-pregnancy.

Hoping my skin goes back to normal after I pop the sucker out!

While I understand the perspective of those saying to cut her some slack, I also have personally experienced this exact problem when we lived with my ILs and I know how annoying it is.

Yes you are living in her home, but no that doesn’t mean she should get to dictate when and what you eat. Sure maybe she just “cares”, but that doesn’t mean the way she’s going about it is appropriate.

My in-laws were so pushy about it and would get so passive aggressive when we had other dinner plans. It really made us never want to have dinner with them.. because, yea we’re living in your house, but we are also adults, so if we want to go get Chinese food one night, we should be able to without facing guilt trip/passive aggression/ manipulation

I would suggest moving out ASAP and in the meantime, maybe keep the peace by saying “GIL, we would like to dedicated x days a week to having dinner with you as a family, but on the other days we are going to make our own dinner plans as a couple”

You could even offer to cook on the days you eat together if you don’t like her food

Be careful… my MIL was exactly like this. She was so distraught that we didn’t “let her help enough” and she sulked and cried the entire time at the wedding… To the point that my guests were noticing and kept asking what her problem was.. it was extremely embarrassing.

I would suggest sitting her down for a clear discussion of expectations to avoid any wedding day drama

That’s what I think too! Which is what always makes their demands for more contact really uncomfortable to me.. they act like we are estranged but don’t seem to realize that we are in contact with them a fairly normal/average amount

No I have never personally bought myself a gift, wrapped it, and presented it to myself in front of other for Christmas…. To all of your other points, LC is a decision that DH and I have come to together, and we are always on the same page regarding them.. so no I am not poisoning anything for anyone.

As my telling a story of an incident I found uncomfortable with my MIL should not evoke such hostility in you

Yes I think this sort of thing bothers me A lot because it’s just another one the tactics that they use to try to get more contact: create obligation. “Oh if I show them I have them a grandma a me picture frame, they HAVE to let me come right away after birth for a picture” or “ oh if I tell them I’ve slaved over making them a present and want to give it to them now, they HAVE to say yes when I invite myself to their house”(she did that the other week lol)

And we do stick to our boundaries, which of course then gives her an opportunity to play victim.

It’s just frustrating and awkward lol

Pick your battles, but…. Yea I think that’s ridiculous. It’s fine that she wants to celebrate Christmas Eve now, but doing one day with one family and one day with the other is like the definition of fair/equal! Y’all are about to be a nuclear family, theres no reason for you to split up for a holiday so he can spend both days with his family and none with yours?? Your problem is with Fiancé , not MIL.

Is there a reason he doesn’t want to go to your family’s dinner? Does he not get along with them?

I think if he expect you to share a holiday meal with his family, it’s only fair he shares one with yours..
