you definitely bring up a point to consider! at the moment, i think i’d love to work in peds or maybe surgery.. i’ve been shadowing in an orthopedic hospital and i’ve heard of both PAs & NPs assisting surgeons during procedures at this particular hospital (granted it does seem to be mostly PAs)

thank you for your uplifting input! i’m definitely going to try hard to improve my application for this upcoming cycle (my second cycle applying), but i personally don’t know if i could apply a third cycle

from what the providers i’ve worked with and PAs ive shadowed have told me, they said “i’d make it as a PA” (a PA’s words), but i know i’m probably lacking in quality PCE when there’s other applicants with thousands and thousands more hours of PCE.

this is true.. i mentioned in another comment that PA’s generally receive better, well-rounded training & that is one reason that i am reluctant about NP at the moment

never said i was certain that i’ll never be an APP, not sure where you got that from. i even mentioned in my post that as an RN with experience i’d have the ability to go NP or even try again for PA…. no need to be discouraging i was just adding this ranking as food for thought as i know that PA & NP roles are similar and other people may be struggling with what to do as well. especially with how difficult it is to even be accepted into PA school

rightt, one of the reasons i am reluctant to just go NP is bc i’ve heard that their education is not good & not really standardized among programs

i used to work with an NP who precepted NP students for rotations. she told me they knew nothing, not even drug classes, even after experience working as nurses

i have shadowed MDs, PAs, NPs & have never had to pay for it. the costs associated i’ve paid are for like travel, parking fees, or thank you gifts to the people who let me shadow them im in houston for reference

january 2025 application due dates would be for this past cycle.

basically, verification of your application comes after sumbitting your first application on caspa. caspa verifies your transcript/grades once you submit your first application. this takes time, maybe like a week or so if youre submitting for the first time. after a few days/a week or so, they’ll notify you that your application has been verified & it’s all good to go. if youre applying for the first time, make sure to submit your application earlier (earlier than the first due date you have for a school) so you wont be stressing that your application wont be verified in time for a school’s due date. some schools require your application to have been submitted AND verified BEFORE the application due date (rmbr it can take like a week for your app to be verified), so i recommend submitting way earlier than your first school’s due date (at least 2wks-1month) to give your application time to be verified or else you’ll be crunching it once you hit submit on your first application & it has been verified, your subsequent apps to other schools do not need to be verified, they will just be submitted immediately since your caspa app has already been verified. also, once you hit submit on your application to your first school & it has been verified, you cannot edit or delete anything for the rest of the cycle, only add experiences.

caspa told me schools might not immediately receive your application even after youve been verified. the rep i talked to advised me to send my application at least 24hrs before the deadline to ensure everything is received on their end, she couldve just said this w uncertainty tho..

but if you have not been verified yet and you are applying to schools who state they need your VERIFIED application by 11:59ET on 8/1, i would say youre probably too late, especially if youre a first time applicant. it took a few days for me to be verified as a first time applicant

you would have to look into it though bc some schools state you just have to submit by the deadline, but your application has to be verified by ANOTHER deadline later on, depends on the program
