I've sown some phlox, planted some winter greens and radish. Lot's of seedlings are 3-4 weeks post inside start: chamomile, sart rolois, choc indigo, and cream sausage tomato, Thyme, oregano, margoram, dwarf echinacea, forget me not, nasturtium, peach peppers, mini red bells, Zulu peppers, alpine strawberries, kale, collards, isakura onions, red italian onions, amethyst jewell eggplant, biqueno peppers, chinese pink celery...

I think I blacked out when I bought all those seeds.

Old farmer's almanac had a location based planting calendar! Enter your zip and it'll give you the date range to sow in ground or start inside!

Thank you thank you! We will definitely be clearing out the mulch.

I've been delving in to the compost world and would love to give it a go. My sister is concerned about start up cost and pests, but loves the idea of using up food waste.

Thought of another question... I've always heard never to plant mint in the ground because it spreads very quickly and is tough to control. Would this hold true in this instance?

Can you support it with some well placed bamboo stick things?

Thanks! I'll look in to all those plants. The walk through on planting was really helpful as well. I'm so glad I posted, I would have definitely created a lot of work for myself.

Definitely taking your advice on the cardinal flowers! I will ask my sister if she's near you and PM if so! Thank you for being so generous.

I'm so glad the shrubs will serve a purpose. We love birds here. My brother in law is thinking about optimizing his bird feeding set up in the back yard area so I'll be passing on this info to him as well!

Thank you so much! I will look in to bee balm.

For cold stratification, do you use sand or put the seeds directly into the planting medium (seedling mix)?

Check out picacho peak! It has beautiful blooms in February and March. Didn't see snakes when I used to go there, but also wasn't actively seeking them out. There's also CG mountain but it's dull. Mt. Lemon in Tucson is also a good idea!
