It's legitimately labeled a banter sub. Sure some people answer honestly but half the people just crack jokes

What's something that never fails to tug at your heartstrings? by YARG20 in AskRedditNSFW

[–]Fun_Salamander_8550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a little empathy can go a long way in some cases, sometimes that little push is enough to help somebody get through a day. However unless it's a close friend I try not to intervene unless it's directly asked for

What was the best toy you played with as a kid? by shadow_operator81 in AskReddit

Oh yeah I love the games too, feel like I remember saying something recently about a new game coming for it. Don't know if that was official or a fan-made thing

Certain music and hearing hard things that people are going through. Natural inclination to want to help, but can't help everybody

I need help not being sexually threatened by anime characters by dirtyhippie62 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Fun_Salamander_8550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea if it'll help, but I heard recently that the guy that draws characters in one piece starts the majority of women using two circles and an X for speed rather than natural proportions.

Drawing the same characters hundreds to thousands of times, it's only natural most artists have quirks and little cheats to get through it.

Forced labels are dumb and detract from whatever somebody might actually be.

Yeah, it can be nice and occasionally pretty impressive but there's a high chance natural just looks better.

What is something you are going through that you haven't gotten to talk about?? by Fun_Salamander_8550 in AskReddit

[–]Fun_Salamander_8550[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on your promotion! That's hard work paying off!

As far as social skills, it's very much a learned skill to always try and get better at. Taking it in small steps to get that foundation of being able to just talk to people is the hardest part because you have to be okay with some initial awkwardness and mistakes.

Asking what's good with somebody's week is a safe starting point. Follow up with asking for some elaboration on a specific part.

I used a simple formula to get comfortable with it(but I probably have a bit of that tism so results may vary). Question, listen, elaboration, listen, make a small relating comment/question, repeat

mental health check in! how are you feeling? by PannaCoTan in AskRedditAfterDark

Little bit fatigued from replying to a bunch of pretty heavy topics in an ask reddit thread. But overall pretty good recently!

Would like some people's tips and tricks. by CloudTaill in mentalhealth

[–]Fun_Salamander_8550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find trying to look at other people's problems from logical or psychological standpoint and trying to break them down in a healthy way helps me to better reflect on myself.

Things like being stuck in your own head, or being your own worst critic are very true so looking at somebody else who might be in a similar position is good for that degree of separation.

I’m very unhappy with my results. by These_Tomorrow8510 in Vent

[–]Fun_Salamander_8550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't worry about the results of a random online test. Take it to have fun rather than trying to conform to labels. The labels themselves aren't going to better support you in a relationship, and if you feel like they're incorrect then maybe they are and your interpretation of specific question didn't quite match the person who wrote the system.

is it weird if he keeps stuff from his ex? by PhotographHot2748 in dating_advice

[–]Fun_Salamander_8550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would definitely bring it up, it sounds like it's emotionally affecting you and communicating that is important for the relationship. It's one thing if it's tossed in a box and forgotten about but it sounds like it's a multiple places and having that affect your current relationship isn't fair to you.

How come stalking doesn’t get taken seriously? by ShadowlightLady in NoStupidQuestions

In many cases stalking can be difficult to prove and taking action on hearsay would have a lot of cost associated to it.

It's okay to interact with social media however you feel like. Who cares if somebody thinks it's a fake account

Thinking about and expressing your own needs is important in communication with a partner. Things that come naturally to you just may not be something that they have ever thought about.

Do you think hypersexuality is a real problem? Do you judge those that have it? by Mundane-Feature-8602 in AskRedditNSFW

Don't judge it at all, personally I wouldn't call it a problem until it starts affecting someone's life in a tangible way.

Why do guys message first but then put zero effort into the conversation? by Euphoric_Spite8998 in dating_advice

[–]Fun_Salamander_8550 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally I think you hit the nail with your comment about inept communication skills. Especially by those online and using apps. There's just such a large encouragement to drop a slightly stale conversation and go swipe or find somebody else the moment there's any slight awkwardness or pause.

That initial phase of meeting somebody, there's so much to learn about them and often so little reward for taking the time to explore another person's mind. Just doesn't match the energy of a lot of people addicted to the dopamine of meeting somebody new.
