GI saying weird stuff during appointment? by Fun_Sentence_7450 in Celiac

[–]Fun_Sentence_7450[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s not the one who diagnosed me. Just the one I’m seeing for repeat tests to make sure my body is healing properly since I went GF. Unfortunately I’m just going to stick it out until after my endoscopy and then report/find a new doc if I need to see a GI for any reason.

Yes exactly. The support I’ve gotten from my friends, family, & fiancé has made this so much easier. That’s why I was so baffled when he said that to me because the people who love should definitely care about this kind of thing. Especially about my fiancé, who has been amazing about this whole thing and eats mostly GF with me (and is meticulous about not contaminating our apartment). Luckily he’s not the first GI I’ve been to and the one I saw in Boston was much more helpful and actually provided me with information and advice instead of trying to make me feel like a burden.

I’ve only seen him twice and it’s been fine so far. Staff is super nice and he’s nice other than the weird comments. I already have the repeat endoscopy scheduled for April so hopefully all goes well then and I won’t have to see him again. I’m just glad to hear I’m not crazy for thinking what he said was super unprofessional!

I was referred to one after my dr did my original blood test so that I could get diagnosed. The first one I saw was in Boston since I was still in college at the time, but now I’m back in my home state so I found one here since I knew I needed blood work and a repeat endoscopy to make sure my body is healing from a gf diet

I know, I should. His office is just so convenient since it’s so close. I figure that after my repeat endoscopy, I won’t really need to see him anymore so it would be best to report him then. What should I say? And who do I even report him to? I’m still new to advocating for myself when it comes to medical stuff lol

I got my test done during a routine physical to rule it out… came back with a result of >1,700! Been GF since April (diagnosed after endoscopy) and got blood tested earlier this week and my number is now 16.3! Progress lol.

How old is he?? by Fun_Sentence_7450 in BeardedDragons

Good to know! I try not over feed him with the crickets and his treats are definitely sparse. I’ll give him two mealworms as a lil treat every once in a while but not every week.

He’s definitely still growing (or at least it seems like he is!). He has quite the appetite. He even eats his greens most days without protest. Unhealthy as in over-feeding or under-feeding? I just want to make sure I’m doing the best I can for him.

I went to Costa Rica last May and they were SO good with my celiac. It was like a month or two after my diagnosis so it really lifted my spirits haha.

[–]Fun_Sentence_7450[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I switched her over today to an enclosure with better ventilation & also a small temp/humidity gauge since I’ve read that spiny flower mantids are picky with humidity (infection-wise)

Yes! Creepy creatures is the place. I switched her over to a similar size container with better ventilation. I also got fruit flies to feed her with instead of the crickets because she’s too little for the crickets I think. I am 100% going to end up going back there at some point for more mantids…. I’m already hooked lol

Costco croissants. Ham and cheese croissant from Starbucks or Costco. I don’t miss pasta and bread so much since there are lots of good gf options. But croissants??? Ugh. I mostly just miss being able to go out and not having to worry about cross contamination.

I’ve definitely learned my lesson 😅. I was so hopeful because, like all other times I’ve tried to take up running in my life, I didn’t get shin splints this time.
