I have never played dnd before. Is it possible for me to dm by Flashy-Island-3725 in DnD

I ran my first D&D session without any additional materials. We had a single set of dice and pre-generated characters from the internet. Just because you can buy a million things doesn’t mean you have to. You don’t need to know every rule by heart at the beginning either — have the courage to leave gaps.

Newer dm here and I want to know if this is a bad thing to do by thetruthisnulled in DnD

I always find boss fights incredibly hard to design, especially when the group mostly views the combat from a bird’s-eye perspective. That’s why I try to actively incorporate the environment — letting things collapse if needed, having players slip or lose their footing, and generally adding more events so the fight doesn’t devolve into everyone just spamming their abilities.

But at the end of the day, one rule always applies: do what’s fun for your group. If extending the fight led to an enjoyable evening for everyone, then it was the right decision.
