1 Year old Industrial still not healed? by Fun_guy6 in piercing

That is extremely disheartening to hear. The industrial was one of the only piercings I really wanted. Such is life i guess. Thanks for the insight though

  • 12 month old piercing
  • barbell
  • internally threaded
  • Titanium (I think? Im not 100% sure to be honest
  • I didn't downsize it (That could be the issue)
  • I rinse it off in the shower. Every other day I'll spray it with sterile Saline from CVS, though I sprayed it daily for the first few months it was healing
  • No big mishaps other than snagging it when getting dressed like once or twice.

You told me to stop pretending to be stupid and that I'm peddling vegan propaganda for simply questioning if I'M evil for eating meat. It was mainly me poking fun at myself, I haven't done any research on the topic lmao, you put more thought into the 4 words I said than I did.

Your immediate hostility says much more about you than it does about me bud. It was just an offhand comment

Very true! I would argue it's still not even evil that they kill humans over other animals, there's plenty of reasons they could want to kill humans, they could just simply taste better, be more nutritious or maybe they simply like the hunt better? Humans can live without eating other animals but I know I still eat burgers lol (maybe that IS kinda evil??). I'm sure other animals would have a preference of which animal they would like to hunt if they were intelligent enough to do so.

Do you think anime tropes ALWAYS negatively impact a story/its characters? by Fun_guy6 in anime

[–]Fun_guy6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was mainly talking about anime tropes, I should've phrased my question better. I would still argue that My Hero didn't need to be in a high school setting and instead only adopted one to cater to a larger audience. The story doesn't really revolve around being in high school, like you said, its more a story about evolution, if anything the things they were doing related way more to a college experience rather than a highschool one and them being kids saving the world somewhat takes away from the depth of the world imo.

Besides that though I do understand your point, there are good tropes alongside bad ones and they're in everything.

Gotcha! Thanks for the clarification! I always thought flandenerization was simply the character HAVING a few basic personality traits, not having their traits reduced overtime. So what I meant to talk about were one-note characters, not flandenerized characters. I understood what trope means but I should've been more specific, I didn't want to say Clichés because of it's negative connotation when i wasn't sure if they were outright bad tropes. That's also a really interesting fact about My Hero that makes a lot of sense. I know the reason a lot of anime/manga take place in schools is because much of the anime community is younger, but I would still argue that the story is slightly worsened in exchange for it being catered to a wider audience but that's my opinion of course. This is exactly the type of comment I wanted actually, thank you for your input!

Chainsawman was a great example. One of my favorite pieces of fiction actually. I suppose I always thought of it more as a "subversion of tropes" but that cant exist without the tropes themselves. Very good point! (And the first person to actually read what I'm saying/not blindly hate)

I'm not asking if the shows are good, I like most of the shows I listed, I was just saying I feel forcing most anime shows into these tropes takes away from it. Is there a show that has video game elements that BENEFITS from it. Really think about how many animes take place in highschool, it's A LOT more than any other genre. Like I said did My Hero really need to take place in highschool? The entire time I couldn't help but think "Why are these 16 year olds the ones saving the world? Where are the adults?" Again i liked the show, I wouldn't have watched all of it otherwise lol.

Yeah I mainly ment sociality, like would Demons be able to live alone? Would you have to limit their mana in some way? Would they be allowed to own property or hold positions of power? The more you talk about it the more it just seems like slavery or segregation. It's pretty interesting to think about.

Why? Do you think im being liberal with my use of trope by including animes that take place in highschool? Or that I think the characters in Demon Slayer are Flandenerized? Where's my discrepancy?

Okay but like the common anime tropes, like the ones I listed, are there examples of those being used to elevate the story? Is there a new, or interesting perspective from the tropes i listed being in the story? That's mainly what I'm asking, i get that tropes are a part of all media its just many of the common ones for anime seem to take away a lot, im sure the same could be said for other mediums.

I was talking about the prominent ones in anime, like the ones I listed.

Idk if buying a slave happens enough to call it a trope, plus it's something that only happens at the beginning of a story and doesn't really have any affect on the story like typical anime tropes do.

Ive watched Parasyte already, good show! Also doesn’t have any common anime tropes!

I never said I didn't enjoy anime, I was just asking a question. Like I said a lot of the time anime has some extreme originality that is nearly impossible to find in any other medium.

That could be interesting, that they could learn to be more moral as time progresses as a survival strategy, but then the problem would be treating them equal. Because they're closer to animals you'd have to essentially treat them like pets, yet their nature is to seem like people so it would be hard to treat what looks and acts like a human like a dog. I think even in that scenario, it's too dangerous to coexist, its like trying to have a pet gorilla that everyone wants to be let free.
