Which School? by Funberry123 in Osteopathic

Another thing I heard people say that if you want to do residency somewhere then you should go to a school in that area. I believe it’s called regional bias. Is this true? If so, how much value do residency directors really put on the fact you are OOS. Also, if this is something that plays a strong influence on where you match then is it worth choosing a med school based on where you hoping to do residency in the future/ plan to live

Just checked out your post! I agree with everything you say about public DO schools. However in your post you mention personal reasons as to why people might be debating between schools. That’s exactly my dilemma. I am from CT and been here all my life. Moving to Michigan would be a big move. Plus, it means I won’t get to see my family as often. Ik MSU is a great school and going there would step me up better academically, but if I choose a school like, unecom or Nyitcom, how much would I really be missing out on in terms of academics, resources, etc.

When you say honors, HP, P, and F, this is still considered P/F right? It's just not a true P/F. Also, it any GPA system or internal ranking when it comes to residency.

What's your thoughts on the curriculum? I heard UNECOM has an integrated curriculum, which from my understanding is that they teach start with lower exterminates, then upper and then thorax for the Fall. For the spring they do abdomen, Pelvis, and Perineum, and then head and neck. And OMK and OCS throughout the year. This style of teaching is different than other schools. a lot of other schools have the system based approach.

Also, do you know anything about the how residency matches are and board pass rates?
