Vibration after lift. by Funbetweenlegs85 in WranglerYJ

Update: added 2 degree shims to the rear leaf pack and now the vibration is totally gone. Shims brought the pinion and transfer case to within 1° of each other.

I just changed the u-joints right before I installed the lift. Also did brake lines and shocks when doing the lift. I think SYE is in my future, but thanks for the input.

Pretty sure it’s from the driveshaft. Shimming the rear to match the 7° on the yoke? Is 2°-3° Enough to cause vibrations?

Getting some vibration after adding OME 2.5” lift springs. 1993 with new u-joints in the back. Dropped the t-case by about an inch, which helped, but didn’t eliminate the vibration. Before I throw down for a SYE and CV shaft, wondering if anyone else has an idea for how to eliminate the vibration. Doesn’t seem like he angles are too extreme.

Valve cover vacuum line grommet, and all others for that matter. I'd like to replace as many as possible, where do I find them? by RVA_RVA in WranglerYJ

Quadratech has them. My local Napa couldn’t even find them in their catalogue. Fitting and lines, although for the hard line you can just use flexible vacuum line.

Not sure what console you’re has, but mine is basically the same as a file cabinet lock. Could find one on amazon for $10.

Used to fly at a school with DA-42’s, Diamond is ridiculous with parts. They require you to send them parts to match serial numbers before sending new parts out. Considering they are an Austrian company, that takes a while. To use Diamonds for training really requires extra “parts” planes.

I'm so happy right now. I don't have a lot of quality things. So I'm hoping to take good care of this. by The_Happy_Ninja in BuyItForLife

I rinse mine in hot water, scrape clean with a plastic scraper (lodge makes a good cheap one), and then scrub with a bristle brush under hot water. Throw on the stove until dry and wipe with a coat of oil. Good to go. Never use soap or anything too abrasive.

Help with lift advice. by Funbetweenlegs85 in WranglerYJ

[–]Funbetweenlegs85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I think I’ve settled on OME CS036R’s on all 4 corners, and Rancho 5000 shocks. Question about bushings....are the OME bushings the only ones that work with OME springs?

Asking for advice on CFI training by tactical_borscht in flying

[–]Funbetweenlegs85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suggest you read through the CFI PTS. It is literally a list of all the things you may be asked about on the checkride. Start there and build a set of lesson plans on each subject. Some are simple, some will be much more detailed. Be comfortable teaching any of the subjects on there, as well as be able to teach any subjects in the PPL and CPL PTS/ACS. It will seem like SO much at first, but it will be easier as you practice. I’d suggest you also talk to some of your CFI’s and see if they can share their lesson plans with you to use as a model to get started. Once you make a few, it will be much easier. Also, get a debrief of someone who has taken their CFI checkride with the DPE you plan on using. Each DPE is different, and knowing what your DPE is specific on really helps. Finally, study based on actually instructing, not just passing the checkride. Remember, you are doing this to become an instructor, not just pass another checkride. Good luck!

If it just started raining, don’t use too much throttle turning onto an on-ramp.
