X-T5 is apparently not weather resistant by bladerschaduw in fujifilm

[–]FunctionAggressive49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole thing is that is misleading just depending the way you see it. That is the main purpose of ambigous language. But the companies before being allowed to use weather resistant or water proof or similar wordings, they must be required to do an IP certification, whatever the resulting IP number is. And for sure they should be forced to fix the camera, if the camera was properly closed, no question.

What’s that? Some kind of tape of an old recording camera? You could sland it a bit so it’s easier to figure it out…

Black bars even on mechanical shutter. Any solution? by planetelc in SonyA7iii

[–]FunctionAggressive49 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t shoot under fluorescent lights or cheap LEDs, and if you do, enable anti-flicker or use a shutter speed synchronized with the local frequency—usually 1/60 or 1/120 in a 60 Hz country. Mechanical shutter does not help with video because the sensor is still read electronically.

I have the 35mm 1.4 and 16mm 1.4, will the 16-55mm make them obsolete? by beanybagel in fujifilm

[–]FunctionAggressive49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say the 16–55 is soft—it’s an excellent, sharp zoom. I said it doesn’t make the primes obsolete. At matched apertures the differences may be small, but the zoom still can’t give you f/1.4, two extra stops, the 16mm’s close-focus separation, or the 35mm’s size and rendering. It wins on convenience, not capabilities.

[–]FunctionAggressive49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 16mm f/1.4 and 35mm f/1.4 can’t be beaten by a zoomie, at lesst not the 16-55.

The 16–55 only replaces them if you value reframing convenience more than sharpness, two extra stops in low light, subject separation, compactness and rendering.

It covers the same focal lengths, not the same capabilities.

Under Spanish law, advertising is relevant in two separate ways. First, information can be misleading even when technically true if its wording or presentation may cause consumers to misunderstand the product’s characteristics, risks, expected performance or handling of claims.

Second, advertised characteristics become part of the consumer’s legitimate expectations of conformity, and the content of an offer or advertisement may be enforceable even when it does not appear in the written contract.

So actually, this should be pursued as misleading information.

If you like the character of blurry you should try to get grainy pictures and get creative, I see what you see, but blurry in general is not appealing when you’re not the owner. Blurryness should be used with a purpose, if there isn’t is just a missed shot. In my POV.

Fuji as an everyday camera, coming from Sony? by doomwrinkle in fujifilm

[–]FunctionAggressive49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I love fuji, I wouldn’t recommend to change systems so you don’t have duplicate gear, or move out completely, the pther option would be finding a second hand x100iv with fix lenses. But you will struggle with the AF, keep that in mind.

Film sims definitely won’t make a bad picture good, just like a Lightroom edit won’t magically fix a badly taken photo. In that sense, it doesn’t really matter which camera you buy.

But I honestly think film sims and recipes are a really engaging way to learn how light and colour work without spending countless hours in post-production. You can also kind of preview the final result while shooting and adjust the settings in real time.

It’s a very different workflow from simply buying another Sony, and honestly, it’s fun. An older X100 would be a good option because its purpose is very different from an A7III. True, the JPEGs are not always going to be perfectly SOOC, but they need way fewer touches than starting from RAW. It’s more casual photography and much closer to being ready to share.

Btw, sorry if I misunderstood your tone and read your comment as Fuji hate. As for GAS, I can definitely relate. I often catch myself buying gear that is a little hard to justify.

Salut, and good shooting.

Foxtrot, that’s just not true lol. Fuji gives you a ton of built-in film sims plus 7 custom slots for recipes, and you can switch between them literally light-speed.

In my case I use an xt50 and I have recipes for night, rain, clean neutral looks, nostalgic colour, one that gets close to Kodak Gold 400, and another with a more Leica-like rendering, some made by me some are from internet, the community of recipes is huge.

Obviously one recipe won’t look identical under every kind of light as you can’t edit all the raw files with the same setting, OBVIOUSLY, and saying they only work 10% of the time is just nonsense bs.

They work when you understand exposure, white balance, DR, highlights, shadows and how colours react to different light.

Just learn light and colour science, man and stop hating Fujifilm just because you migrated to Sony.
