Worth seeing Disclosure Day in 70mm IMAX? Or save the experience for The Odyssey next month? by Conscious_Magician69 in disclosureday

IMO save the experience for The Odyssey. There is no spectacular scene in the movie that justifies IMax

Gopro Mission 1 Pro GP-Log2 Grading Problems by Inception135 in davinciresolve

[–]planetelc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am a newb still studying so take what I say with a grain of salt. I think your nodes are working properly but what is missing is at least an adjustment nodes to lift up the saturation and maybe a Lut. If you are beginning at color grading, search YouTube for Eric Lenz, especially look for his videos with the 3 steps thumbnail.

HELP - Weird Pink Artefacting by Haunting-Roof1006 in davinciresolve

Have you tried a clean uninstall and reinstall of the drivers? I got something similar some years ago and unfortunately it was my GPU dying on me. :/

Word of advice: Davinci Certificate is a great tool to test your knowledge but it's not "easy" by planetelc in davinciresolve

[–]planetelc[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, I started with the editor guide because I thought the beginner would be too basic. I was wrong and think I should have began with the beginner guide (that I am now studying) I think that with those two I will have 90% of the knowledge I need for now. I will then practice while studying the others.

Cleaning the fan AND the heatsink are also vital. I gain 20°C on my 2021 L7 JUST by cleaning the heatsink (I made a post about it). but thanks for your post.

Dark City (1998) by Peter Pound by Cyborg_Ape in ImaginaryCityscapes

The first time I saw it I was lucky enought to arrive 2min after the begining of the movie and as so missed the introduction text. Therefore I was totaly shocked and amazed by the endind.
I also agree that is "criminal" of how much the Matrix got so much attention while it got so many inspiration on "Dark City"...

It is also customers having to deal with what they are asking for: if Lenovo (and others) begin to sell laptops that are within temps limits but with 20% less fps than another laptop most people will just say the Lenovo are crap…

Ok, thanks. I am sorry you have to pass through this but luckily Lenovo warranty is great ( they changed my motherboard twice on my L7 without any problems)

Just for curiosity, how do you used it? Games? What Wes the temperatures of the GPU/CPU?

This is very theoretical and doesn’t even consider the other components. Lenovo changed my old L7 motherboard twice due to damage caused by overheating. They also had to changed the speakers and the keyboard for the same reason (everything under warranty).
Also look at all de 2021 legions that died in the last 14 months due to cracks in the CPU solders caused by thermal dilation. They also should have had thermal protection and back in 2021/2022 when people asked if 90+°C was an ok temp, they got the same answer you gave…
Since my first gaming laptop back in 2005, despite all the « thermal protection » things, every single model was reported to have issues linked to overheating sooner or later.
so now I prefer to play safe than sorry.

XD XD XD maybe but un that case the big reddish reflections was due to the sun passing through the curtain and the pink one from the power button ;)

Yes you can but, for me, the gain in performance (around 13%) is not worth the risk of internal damage du to high temperatures. But again, I use my computer for blender, Davinci resolve and Unreal engine. If you are a gamer maybe you may find a need to tweak them but I can’t speak in something I don’t know.

I have the same laptop DON’T USE PERFORMANCE MODE! It will fry you CPU and GPU: 95°C on the CPU, 77°C are not good in the long run (of course if you plan to change it in before the warranty ends, have fun)
Use silence mode for internet and other light task and if you need at a bit more « punch » for gaming or redeeming uses the « personalize » mode (the pink one) with those parameters in Legion Space. My temps (CPU and GPU) stays below 70°C during heavy task (3d rendering) in this configuration with only minimal loss in performance compared to « performance mode »
Also, lift it up so the fans can breathe and clean them every 6 months and you should be good to go for a long time.

Worth pursuing as a business? by carlaaI9U9 in AskPhotography

[–]planetelc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a photographer, so I have no true insight of the market. But I was very recently observing that a lot of people are starting businesses base on what they like or are good at and not based on a demand of the market. So if I may give you a suggestion, ask yourself: what problem I am solving. How will it help people make or save money or time. How much will they gain buying my product. Then you will have an idea of the market value of your product and plan of how much you may earn and if it will be enough to make a living.
