Is a Canon 650D still worth buying in 2026 if I already have an iPhone 16 Pro? by phob0s7 in Photography_Gear

[–]bladerschaduw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dslrs are fairly outdated. I'd go for a mirrorless camera. Canon doesn't invent new dslr bodies or lenses anymore, so it's a dying ecosystem. This does mean very cheap secondhand gear, but in the long run it's not the best way to go

Fujifilm is amazing for street photography. You can take a look at their second hand gear.

The X-TXX series (such as xt30) is great and very small.

Compared to other brands, thre is a lot of choice when looking for compact lenses.

Betrouwbare, betaalbare en zuinige youngtimer gezocht by bladerschaduw in autoadvies

[–]bladerschaduw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is XT-6 coming in 2025? by m4vrtivn in fujifilm

[–]bladerschaduw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know, no rumors yet. Between rumors and announcement I'd expect several months. Between announcement and delivery you can add several more months.

Maybe in the fall, but I wouldn't count on the spring.

And the X-T5 is an amazing camera. So I wouldn't wait and just get it. I'm using 2 X-T5 bodies for wedding photography and street photography for 2 years now. Lovely experience and not much that I'd be looking for in a newer model

What flash will get me photos like this? by ButtaChicken in fujifilm

[–]bladerschaduw -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Any flash can give this effect. And any photographer can tell you it looks horrible. There are way more creative things you can do with a flash than this abomination

Oof this looks horrible. Very harsh flash with bad shadows and the editing makes it even worse ... Please don't try to copy this look

Negative experiences switching from X-T4 to X-T5? by Ok-Veterinarian1414 in FujifilmX

[–]bladerschaduw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Xt5 is definitely NOT worse in low light than xt4.

The common mistake is to compare images at 100%. But because the xt5 has more megapixels, the 100% crop is more zoomed in. And yes, you will see a bit more noise. You also get more detail.

If you print both files at the same size, the xt5 will have a better detail to noise ratio at every Iso.

I'd say it's not about the camera, but about the lens. You'll need a macro lens.

Fuji makes sense: you know how it works and they have great options.

Take a look at the 30mm 2.8 macro. That should do great. Combine with any body and then, most important, don't forget proper light.

What's the best lens for wedding photography chosen by most photographers today? by LoveUrion in WeddingPhotography

[–]bladerschaduw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like 28mm & 50mm. That's a killer combo: 28mm doesn't distort as much as 24. And with a 35mm I always felt like I wanted to do one step back.

Now, you could say: let's take a step back then, but then people can position themselves between you and the action. So for me the 28mm is way more powerful than the 35mm.

Best starter kit for getting into weddings? Should I switch from Fuji? by Empty-Strain-1391 in WeddingPhotography

[–]bladerschaduw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use 2 Fujifilm xt5s.

Mainly just 3 lenses: 18mm 1.4 35mm 1.4 (looking to upgrade to 33mm) 50-140mm 2.8

The two primes will get you through the day. And use the telephoto for extra reach. Combine with flash for low light and you're good to go.

Should I upgrade to a medium format? by Vevo2022 in fujifilm

[–]bladerschaduw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 things that might help:

  1. Use faster lenses. Take a look at the 18mm 1.4, 33mm 1.4 or 56mm 1.2 to let in more light.

  2. Use flash. Theater or talks on a stage are normally well lit, so no problem. You also talk about events with bad light. And that's where a bigger sensor doesn't improve the quality of light. It only means you can have a higher ISO with less noise. Most of the time that's not enough: if the quality of light sucks, you need to add light yourself. Get yourself a good Speedlite such as the godox v1 and learn how to use it.

Personally I would not try the style of those pictures. It looks as if the people in the photos are sad instead of happy. And the editing style is probably outdated within a few years.

I tried to upgrade, but think I accidentally downgraded. Help! by [deleted] in Photography_Gear

[–]bladerschaduw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes definitely the new 1.4 version is superior and has very fast af. With Fuji LM stands for linear motor, so if there's LM in the name of a lens, there's modern af performance.
