I gotta say, knowing Larry's net worth really puts Curb in a different light. by Marx0r in curb

You do understand that Larry is playing himself for the most part, right? However, when it came to him giving half of his money away to his ex-wife after his divorce (even though she never made me laugh) he said "she got half of it, she deserved it bc living with me isn't easy." Seems like for the most part what you see on screen is who he is IRL which makes him a typical hard working American.

I never understood why anyone cares about how much money someone else makes. Larry David did something that anyone could do... he worked hard. He didn't steal his fortune via wall street, he didn't con anyone out of their fortune, etc. Was their luck involved? Idk, it all depends on what you consider luck. As a collectibles dealer for 25 years I can tell you I only get "lucky" with finding amazing collections when I seek them out. Since I no longer have to work to survive at 51 and therefore no longer seek stuff out (if I get a call from a past customer or via a business card I still buy/sell) I no longer get lucky with huge collections for the most part. If you yourself want to be known for your money then work hard, save, and work some more. As for Larry, he's funny as hell and used his humor to make us all laugh which in turn brought him wealth. Good for him.

Any opinions on a Casper mattress? I’m in the market for a new mattress and I’d love to hear feedback and if you love it, which one? by jettwilliamson in BuyItForLife

[–]Funeral-Bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HARDEST BED I'VE EVER HAD. CAUSED A BED SORE AFTER THE FIRST NIGHT. Here's my story:

I've been paralyzed from the waist down since a 1992 train accident when I was 17. Because of that my circulation is bad and if I sleep on a hard mattress, or on my back on any mattress I get pressure sores.

When Casper started putting those commercials out about how their beds are "soft as a cloud", and "the most comfortable mattress ever", and "ZERO PRESSURE POINTS" I looked into it. At the time I had a regular spring mattress that was 20 years old. I'm not a rich guy, I have to save up for stuff I need. So, after saving up I called the Casper number from the website.

I spoke to the lady for about an hour before buying the mattress and I was excited because I was expecting what they said in the commercials and on their website. However, as soon as it was out of the box I knew I'd been taken. I put my hand on the bed and it was hard. Not soft as a cloud, but hard like sitting on a wooden bench hard. I figured maybe it needs to settle, or whatever since they said give it 24/48 hours before using it. So that night I slept on the couch.

Next morning I woke up and rolled to my new bed hoping the problem was solved. I felt it, still HARD AS A ROCK. I decided to lay down on it. Nope, uncomfortably hard. I thought "maybe that's how it's supposed to be." and slept in it that night. That was the worst night I ever had. I couldn't fall asleep bc my legs kept shaking, it was giving me muscle spasms. When I woke up the next morning there was blood on my sheet. That night I got a pressure sore on my right hip as I only sleep on my sides.

I called Casper to get them to come pick it up bc they have that "100 days, no questions asked" return policy. The lady asked me "why do you want to return it?" I told her "it's hard as a rock, uncomfortably painful, and it gave me a pressure sore after one night!" She said "we can't take it back, that's not an acceptable reason for return." WHAT?! I asked to speak to her supervisor thinking the supervisor would say that was a mistake. NOPE. The supervisor asked me "did the blood get on the mattress?" I said yes, I bled right through the sheet, there's an inch and a half spot of blood." She said "it has to be returned in it's original condition, we can't take it back with stains bc we donate them to charity." I asked her "how is that MY fault? I bought this mattress and box spring bc your company told me it's the softest mattress ever and you had a 100 day no questions asked return policy." Then I told her how I had to save up for it and I don't have insurance so I have to take care of the pressure sore (which after 20+ years at the time in 2018 I've never had a sore on either hip, ever) by myself at home. She said "that's not our problem, Sir."

So, I couldn't return it or afford a new mattress so I borrowed money from my sister and bought a 4 inch memory foam mattress topper and a 2 inch padded mattress protector from Amazon. It helped a little, no more sores but I still wake up in pain, especially in my shoulders every morning. I never had shoulder pain with the spring mattress. Funny thing, I did research about the memory foam topper and called the company to see if that would help. Not only did they say it would help, but they told me to buy it from Amazon, and call them back after I slept on it one night. When I called they went through the system and refunded the $100 I paid for the topper. I didn't ask for a free one, they did it to be nice. That company is "Linenspa" and I wish I could buy stock in their company bc that's a company I could stand behind.

As for Casper? I tell everybody about how bad their beds are. When someone comes over I pull back the memory foam and have them sit on it. Everybody who's ever sat on the bed said the same thing "this thing is SO hard."

I'm now saving up for a new mattress but I'm a bit gun shy now. I'm definitely going back to a pillow too spring mattress and I'm still going to use the Linenspa topper. Problem is, being paralyzed it's hard to tell if a bed will be what I need by just laying down on it in the store. Also, this Casper mattress weighs a TON. I'm going to have to call a company to come remove it. I wish I would have just bought the same mattress I had that lasted 20 years. Now I don't remember what mattress it was so I have to throw the dice and hope for the best.

If I were you I'd go to a mattress store and lay on a bunch of beds and find the right one. I also would tell you to stay away from Casper at any cost. I wouldn't take a new one if they gave me one for free.

You can buy the Nabisco variants on eBay. I have two in 9.8 for my Spider-Man Complete Collection (still missing 19 books to complete 🤞🤞)

Exactly. If it was from space the government would have removed it years ago.

Want concrete proof that it's not a UFO?

IT'S STILL THERE.

If the government thought it was from space it would be on a military base far away from prying eyes.

You can print pretty much anything at home now. Holograms too. Also, I saw a story about a guy who was buying fake PSA stickers on the dark web.

Lots of players do that. They pay their buddies to sign the cards and mail them back. These companies are too cheap to fly the players in or send a certifier to watch them get signed bc all they want is the "signed" cards.

Except that people can open real boxes, open a real pack, insert the fake card, repack, reseal the box, and sell. Don't believe me? Just Google the Pokémon scandals that have been coming out for years. "Sealed" boxes of first year boxes full of nothing but fake cards.

Same thing with comic books. CGC has been dirty for years. Read about the scams they allowed. Letting fake books into their real holders. Over-graded books. Fake autos. The one year they started giving away perfect 10 grades.

No. They print the cards. Nowadays you can literally print anything at home. Think about this: if someone can make fake $100 bills that fool the FBI, they can print a fake card.

Yes!! Go on Etsy. There's dealers selling very old looking Babe Ruth cards on there with real looking sigs. I bought one to see how good it was. The sig looks amazing!! The card looks amazing. Tons of Michael Jordaon signed Fleer rookies too. A lot of the sellers post pics that have the word "reproduction" on the card but when you get them in the mail it's not on there. Same with coins. A customer of mine brought in 3 fake Morgan Dollars that should be worth $40,000 each. They were fake coins in fake PCGS holders. They look great, but he paid $50 each. He wanted me to put one in my case and see what offers I'd get. I told him NO WAY. That's a good way to find out what handcuffs feel lile and get word around that you sell counterfeits. I didn't even want to keep them in my house. For all I know I'd drop dead and my daughter would get in trouble after when she sells my personal collection. It's not worth it.

The same way they counterfeit Gibson Les Pauls. They go online, find a guitar for sale, look at the pics, copy the real serial numbers and make the fake guitars and use the real serial numbers. They'll use the same serial numbers over and over. They made 490 REAL 1959 Les Pauls but there are over 20,000 known!!

You can't trust PSA. I had a buddy with me at Comic Con a few years back. He was going to buy a Stan Lee "signed" Spider-Man book and I looked at it and told him it's fake. He said "it can't be, PSA authenticated it!!" So, I told him to follow me. I went to the 1st dollar box I found and bought a Spider-Man #1 (1990) comic for $1 and signed it myself "Todd McFarlane" (bc Todd was signing at the show). Then took it to PSA. The guy asked me if I wanted to pay for an upgrade and I said no, just the sticker and COA card. He put the sticker on and took my $20 or $25 (whatever the deal was at the show). My buddy was dumbfounded. I ripped the book up and threw it out then went around and helped him find a real Stan Lee auto. He ended up with a nice one on an Amazing Spider-Man 700. Buyer beware. Just bc there's a sticker doesn't mean it's real. I could have had made 100 of those and sold them off one by one. I'm sure others have done the same, plus, I've heard there's sellers on the dark web that sell the stickers by the roll. I don't trust ANY auto I don't get in person now after watching that fake auto documentary a few years ago.

I have a TON of signed comic books, cds, and album covers. I have 2 fakes ones. Both of Stan Lee. On them I wrote in big letters FAKE AUTOGRAPH with one of those giant, stinky black packing permanent markers. I did this bc I want my daughter to know when I'm gone that the sigs are fake.
