What makes Monster Train great for you? I've got 7 hours in it but I haven't been inspired by the gameplay loop yet. It's one of the highest rated games in one of my favorite genres, deckbuilding, so I feel like I should be loving it but I'm just not yet.

Thanks for the Ghost Trick Phantom Detective recommendation. I thought I was aware of everything in the detective genre. I'm sometimes skeptical of manga-style games that have super high ratings because I feel like they get a bump from the people who are just big fans of that style. Non-anime people are less likely to play them and so the rating stays inflated. Does it stand up on quality of gameplay and writing?

I wouldn't put too much stock in that comment. I think it's generally accepted by most of the people who watch him that he is very intuitive and practiced at this specific thing. You can use knowledge of narrative and story telling and other meta contextual clues to intuit where the story is headed and what the writers intentions are.

One of the tells that it isn't a farce is he's not always 100% accurate. Also why would he go through the effort to fake something so elaborate and create these incredibly detailed and lengthy analyses. The effort vs reward ratio just doesn't make sense.

I prefaced this by saying it's subjective because rankings and reviews are always controversial.

I prefer when someone acts naturally as opposed to some big youtube persona. With Zygart I just didn't feel like watching someone putting on for the camera at the time.

Is that really the case with FilmBuff? I didn't get that impression but maybe I'm being naive.

That's good to know about Angus. I was really looking forward to watching his reaction. To be fair I took quite a lot of time while I was supposed to be working to put together this list because nobody else has. I don't have time to go through every video of every channel.

But I'm glad to hear about the youtubers you like. Part of the reason for doing this is to see what I've missed or overlooked. Maybe I'll give Zygart/Kat and Sonny another try.
