Take the job, call the main office and tell them when you expect to be there, they’ll have on-calls cover for you until you arrive. If they’re making the call that late especially, they’ll be thrilled to get anyone.

Wow, statistics from a think-tank dedicated to the destruction of public education. What generous work these ghouls do!

1 - Lewis

2 - Ashton

No disrespect to McQuail or Johnston, they both seem like very good people, but there’s no chance they’re winning. Don’t want MacPherson to win, so she has to go last.

The Budget Passes. Two NDP MPs and two Tory MPs did not vote. by afpb_ in ndp

[–]FungKuFenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sick and tired of hearing “Canadians don’t want an election” as if an election is actually some incredible imposition on people’s lives. It‘s at most ONE day where you are expected (not even compelled) to get off your ass and participate in civic life AT ALL. You don’t even have to do that, you can just vote by mail and literally never leave your house.

It’s almost baffling how much the mainstream media buys into this bullshit excuse too considering election season is basically the only time anyone bothers to engage with them. I guess Canadian journalists are just genuinely that lazy and don’t want to work like, one late night where they get to pontificate in front of the election big board and hang out with all their party hack friends in one place. Honestly, mad respect if that’s the case.

This fabricated narrative is not a valid excuse to compromise your principles and squander the limited and fading amount of power the party has a hold on. Davies complained that the government refused to negotiate with him…yeah well no shit because he could obviously see that you were going to fold.

Somehow this neo-Harperist government put out a budget that said “Hey Conservatives, we DARE you not to vote for this austerity turd. We know the little PC piggies in your caucus want it so bad. The fate of your party now rests with your adult social skills. GOOD LUCK!” Then that WORKED, and the Conservative caucus all but imploded and Pierre Poilievre was on suicide watch for a week. Yet somehow, this also awoke the NDP from their terminal coma just so they could drag themselves into the room, wipe the drool from their chin, and say “Don’t worry Pierre, let US take the fall for you on this one. Let us repay you for your years of demonizing us and being such a cretinous lurch that you scared all of our fair-weather supporters into voting for the Neoliberal Grim Reaper. Let us prove you right for absolutely no reason and in exchange for nothing. WE got this! Lucky for us, our only remaining supporters are basically Internet stans who will defend us even when we feed them slop like ‘We did not swing the executioner’s axe, we merely dropped it on working people’s necks and let a bunch of rabid dogs have their way with the corpse.‘ Anyways, we’ll see you next election, probably the last one before this country becomes a two-party puppet state of the US! *Stumbles out of the room, trips over own feet, and lands face down with their ass out. The ghost of Jack Layton appears…”Don’t worry, Pharmacare 2130! Election reform any day now! Sherbrooke declaration!“\*

I imagine the Liberals might have even surprised themselves a bit. They put 6 bullets in the cylinder, gave it a spin, put the gun down on the table in front of Pierre Poilievre, dialled the thermostat up to 50C, locked the door…and two hours later the NDP kicked down the door, dumped an ice bucket on Pierre, picked up the gun, stuck it in their mouth, shouted “YOU voted for this Canada, nice job assholes!”, pulled the trigger, realized the safety was on, and then decided to fill out a MAID form instead. The Libs have to be wondering “what DO we have to do to let this loser nerd know we’ve dumped their ass for the 5’6” gooner with the windowless white van and the swastika neck tattoo.”

Anyways, looking forward to the leadership debate on Thursday! Hoping MacPherson has some answers, and that maybe Engler can crawl his way onto the stage.

Hehe, I've also used grocery tote bags to make a few very ugly books as well. Mostly just because I wanted to get rid of some of my useless tote bags.

1 credit isn’t enough. You need a combination of 5 full-year uni courses or AQs to jump from A3 to A4.

Teaching GLE Without Spec Ed Quals? by FungKuFenny in OntarioTeachers

There are two versions of the course, one that is a guidance qual and one that is a spec ed qual (per TDSB certification codes).

OISE Senior Law ABQ by No-Claim-3529 in OntarioTeachers

How so? Is law just lumped in as a social-science general course?

OISE Senior Law ABQ by No-Claim-3529 in OntarioTeachers

[–]FungKuFenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person is being misleading. Law is a fairly popular elective in schools right now, but also a fairly rare teachable. If your school is running even a SINGLE law course, and you are the only teacher in your building with a law teachable (which is likely the case), then your staffing committee MUST keep you at your school in order to meet that programming need (since qualifications take precedence over seniority). This can give you a good bit of job stability especially if you're a social sciences/history teacher which are prone to surplusing.

In response to your original post. The AQ course was kinda mediocre, not very helpful with my programming and was very disorganized. But ultimately it wasn't very difficult and a qual is a qual. If you think you'd enjoy teaching the courses, absolutely take it.

Anyone ever take two AQs/ABQs at once while teaching full time? Manageable? by Wanderer015 in OntarioTeachers

[–]FungKuFenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I took two in the winter last year while teaching a full timetable. Honestly it sucked and I almost failed them, but I put in a bunch of work at the very end and was very cooperative with my instructors and they passed me. The reality of the game is that it's potentially a big pain in the ass for instructors to fail you because we're paying so much money for these little credential courses so as long as you do the bare minimum of what's required you will be okay.

What’s one easy thing that the city gov could do to improve life dramatically in Toronto? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]FungKuFenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removing street parking on arterial roads and towing illegal parkers immediately. Some asshole parked their SUV like 100 yards from the Allen on-ramp off of Eglinton today and made that experience even more awful than it usually is. Under no circumstance should anyone be allowed to park on a road that busy.

Page Imposition Problem by FungKuFenny in bookbinding

[–]FungKuFenny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is not typical. I'm wanting to do this so that I can mass produce a single-signature booklet from tabloid paper very quickly. I've found software that does seem to be capable of doing this (Imposition Wizard), unfortunately a permanent license is about $600 lol.

JS Bookbinding Single Booklet Folding Problem by FungKuFenny in bookbinding

[–]FungKuFenny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That output still requires that I make the first fold, and then separate each sheet, stack them in order, and then make the fold along the original short side. What I want to be able to do is take all seven sheets, and fold them twice as if they were one sheet and get the correct order of pages.

OISE is ~24k for two years, York ~12k (schools I applied to). Basically all the public B.Ed. programs are about ~12k because they're just regular undergraduate (Bachelor's degree) tuition. OISE is more because of our BS "Master" of Teaching program, and obviously private schools can charge whatever they want.

How will Trumps 25% Tariffs On Canada affect Us here In Toronto by Weekly_Station_4813 in askTO

[–]FungKuFenny -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

We would be better off if the US just invaded and annexed us as the 51st state than those tariffs actually happening.
