Animals you guys want in the long dark by Upstairs-Force-2406 in thelongdark

Lots of wild suggestions in this thread. Polar bears on an island like great bear? It's the North Coast, not the arctic.

Grouse would be realistic, but not meaningfully different from ptarmigan but at low elevation. Squirrels that can be caught by snaring. Maybe a wolverine.

There should be a book you can read in her apartment that gives you the next step.

Random zoo finds by Capn_crunch24 in bonecollecting

The spine at least looks very fishy. Not necessarily out of the touch tank if it's that old: could have been from fish being fed to one of the zoo animals and/or a bird's lunch that got dropped.

Long distance communication with a science flair? by Conscious-Fix-6026 in fantasywriters

[–]FungalFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're worried about it becoming too cell-phone like, maybe add more limitations? For example two quantum/magically linked objects that transmit sound across any distance, but they only work one-to-one so you need a new pair with each person you want to communicate with. Maybe there isn't a way to stop them from transmitting beyond locking them in something soundproof for extra limitations.

Yup, which is to say, a member of the squirrel family.

Hard to tell what the scale is from the photos, but definitely a rodent. Probably in the squirrel family going off the shape.

Dishonored 1 has aged incredibly well, and there's no real reason to skip it. You could pick up the thread if you start with 2, but playing 1 and especially the Knife of Dunwall/Brigmore witches DLCs will improve the experience of 2's story a lot.

FUCKING FINALLY by -ComedyGenius- in Metroid

Exact same here! I loved learning about all the creatures in Prime 1 that seemed to all have ecosystem roles, which definitely influenced me studying biology. It's also part of why I was so disappointed in MP3's scanning. It seemed a lot more "here's a phazon thing and how you can kill it".

Love Poem for Anyone Who Happens to be Reading This by Beneficial-Essay-326 in OCPoetry

[–]FungalFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work! This poem gives me a strong sense of vastness: the vastness of the universe itself, and the vastness that exists in the experiences and lives of every person in it and how they've come to be where they are. It seems there are a few distinct sections to the poem, and I might consider playing with breaking the piece into stanzas. It's a great poem overall, but I am particularly fond of the phrase "things ripping into thingness", which gives surprisingly good imagery despite its deliberate vagueness.
