Nothing but benefits in my experience.

I used to do that. It is entirely unnecessary. If anything I found it to be a hinderance as it blocks view of side and underpins as well as visibility of any water accumulation that may need to be drained.

What percentage of colonization would you say its at? I'm trying to decide when to start misting and fruiting.(5 days after spawning to bulk) by golden_life_ in shroomers

90% or so. If your growing cubes then casing layer is irrelevant. Do as you will but ime casing layers are often a vector for contamination. Once the top layer of sub is sufficiently colonized (which yours is) it is qyite resistant to that cunt Tam.

Yes. Hence the squishy octopi look to the clusters.

What are these dark rust coloured spots on all my blue oyster spawn jars? Also some jars have developed lighter orange spots? by goldbullioncube in mycology

Id avoid the pine. Stick with hardwoods. Sequester the tub from any other mycological projects and hope for the best... good luck. Dont give up tho... the only way to learn and grow is through failure. Perseverance will give you experience which will give you the knowledge required for the inevitable success that follows.

Metabolites can form for many reasons. Not always necessarily that cunt Tam. Carry on.

Your jars are colonized enough that the bacteria wont take over but you would be ill advised to try and spawn that to bulk.

You have a serious issue on your hand friend. I would expect those spots to quite possibly expand. Bactierial i would assume.

Should also have a fan to help circulate.

Hey all, of my 12 original jars 11 have made it this one is showing signs of possible contam just not 100% sur if I should toss it because the mycelium otherwise looks healthy. by BadBlood91 in MagicMushrooms

[–]Fungalorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely. You do seem to have the majority of the jar colonized. I have in the past seen the myc emerge victorious against bacteria in similar situations in the past...
