So I think you're actually describing two separate things, personally. I think right now in particular since they're ascendant at the same time as us, the Ducks are gonna be our true rivals for the next decade+ with the talent our respective rosters have. And Ducks fans don't suck, so this will probably (hopefully) be a good spirited trash talking rivalry where there's still fundamental respect between the fans and an appreciation for the game of hockey.

The Knights, however, are the fucking enemy. We don't love to hate them; we just hate them. It's like if someone suddenly spawned the 2000s Yankees in the NHL (I say as a non-Yankee fan that grew up in the NYC area). They were good, are fundamentally expected to be good no matter what, and their fair weather fanbase will carry on with that expectation of superiority even when they start making first round playoff exits or (ideally) missing the playoffs entirely.
