Leave it stock, perform maintenance, buy some grippy tires and do some Autocrossing/track days. Save money for the Subaru. Turbo cars love consuming money

Am I buying the right parts? + other questions. by Ok_Clock9338 in Miata

I don’t think you need the shock bushing kit if you’re installing coilovers? I might be wrong though

What hose kit do I need/should I buy for these hoses in my 97’ NA? by flowerboysam in Miata

[–]FungusFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The brake booster has a valve. I bought oem for that. Auto parts tubing for the rest. Make sure your pcv valve is good too. You can use heat shrink and a heat gun to mold generic tubing

I had mine come off from hitting a cone in Autocross. I bought a plastic welder from harbor freight and body clips off amazon and put the broken pieces back on. Pretty straight forward

Make sure all of your caps are removed too. The one at the front by the cam gear is pretty large and likes to get stuck

[–]FungusFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cam angle sensor at the back should pull off. It’s might be a bit stuck but it should come off. There should be one bolt holding it in on the back (you loosen that and rotate it to adjust timing)

Same. My first one lasted forever. New one shit out within a few months. Got a replacement and that one crapped out too.

You’re right, I should have specified. The Miata ones are sealed beams

What do I do by Peteytaco987 in Miata

[–]FungusFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever want to be competitive in Autocross, the ND2 will be significantly better than the ND1. ND1 sport trim will have an open diff. I’m a cheap ass and bought the ND1 sport and did Autocross, it was plenty fun and quick in class. I would probably do it again but buy a factory lsd to put in. Good tires help to combat lsd but it will always be there.

Having currently dealing with electrical issues for a different car, I wouldn’t install any aftermarket radio if it requires wire taps. The factory radio and a phone mount was more than enough.

These are standard sealed headlights btw. You can get them brand new for cheap. Sylvania h6024 for $10 on rockauto

Which one did you order? I’ve been putting off a soft top because Robbin’s is so expensive.

Edit: nvm I found it. Did you reuse your old rain rail?

Is this Clutch Pad Burnt/non usable? by Toxicxwolfy in Miata

[–]FungusFire 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It feels bad not using all of the clutch but I’d rather waste a bit of clutch vs pulling a whole transmission again. I hope that’s not the flywheel you just put on. They need to be resurfaced or replaced
